Sweet! Whatcha got on tap? I've got about 10-11 miles including 6 x 800 repeats but I'll be doing them along one of my running paths since a frickin' attacker is on the loose near my track :( Lame ass dude beating up women runners & walkers for crappy iPods.

QOD - I HATE, ABHOR, DESPISE sweat in my eyes. It quite literally blinded me last night in yoga and still hurts today. Why must I sweat so much from the noggin?!?!!? I think it bothers us more than other sweat b/c we focus so much with our eyes and can't help but notice it's there and burning and unrelenting. It doubly sucks when you're so soaked through that you have nothing to use to wipe if off.

In this weather, we all have a tendency to sweat like 10 whole men. Last night on my run from about 6 miles on, I had pools and pools of sweat in my eyes. It caused me to wince, grimace, blink a lot and basically stagger around like a drunk. Why? Why? Why?

QOD - That's a great question - sweat in the eyes has never really bothered me all that much. Since I'm a pretty heavy sweater it gets in my eyes all the time and I guess they must be used to it. I just mop off the brow and keep on going.

QOD - sweat in the eyes doesn't bother me so much. I just kinda try to keep it from getting in there in the first place and if it does, I just deal.

However, I HATE soaked sweaty hair - that's probably why I keep my hair short so much now. Second is the painted-on feeling of tech gear whose wicking properties are past prime and gotten too sweat-laden for it to evaporate.

Moon - the Sunday ride into Paris has always been ceremonial. Hate to say it Contador will probably solidify his lead in the TT.

Prae - that my friend is why I hate umbrellas. Give me a rain jacket any day.

Nice runs this morning gang.

15.1 for me, with 10 miles at MP in the middle. The 90% humidity forced a couple of walk breaks and slowed my MP down a bit but very pleased with this workout. Plus I ran up about a 0.5 mile steep hill at the end to help acclimate to TCM.

QOD: Timr, you're probably like me, a salty sweater. That shit burns and I have yet to find a hat that continues to wick after about an hour into a run. Like today, I was literally dripping: from the bill of my hat, from my shorts, everywhere. What I really hate is feeling that drop form on your eyelid and not being able to get a hand up under my sunglasses quick enough to get rid of it.

Maria - I have about 7 miles total. 5 miles that will include 20 x 200m w 200m recoveries. Target pace for the 200s is in the 6:15 neighborhood.

KP - yeah, I'm a salty sweater too. My visor gets all crusty and looks like the rim of a margarita glass. Last year in the Cold Mercedes marathon, I had salt streaks on the outside of my tights.

And yeah, it burns like crazy, and no hat or visor that I own will keep the rivers from flowing into my eyes, once the hat/visor becomes completely soaked. I can make it rain off of the front of the hat bill.

Um, holy carp freak me out. I just Googled that. Yup, like I said, freak out. I don't know what my deal is. I felt a lot better over the weekend. :( But I will admit during the last several weeks I have been drinking water like it is going out of style, yet continually feel dehydrated.

DH went to the DR 2x and finally got a general antibiotic (first time they sent him home saying he'd be fine). He is doing better, but I don't know if it has anything to do with the meds since I improved (or so I thought) around the same time frame last week.

I guess I will go if things don't improve quickly.

What bugs me the most, by far, is if my ponytail gets too sweaty and sticks to my neck. I either need my hair short enough that doesn't happen or long enough that I can braid it. I'll run with a little cloth in the summer in FL to wipe the sweat off my face, that helps a lot and a ton of runners do that down there.

6 miles done at 7:40 pace. Felt like a decent amount of effort for the pace, but I need to start somewhere, it's shocking the amount of cardio I've lost over the past ten weeks. I think I'm going to just try to speed up my everyday runs with my little shuffle before mixing in some striders. I don't feel comfortable with the thought of having any kick in my stride yet.

I hope that karma makes a visit to Contador, I'm not a fan, at all. This commercial cracks me up, though!!! In it to win it 21 plus deep fried turkey....hahaha.

See you in Danbury!!

So Litch and Coach will both be in Danbury in 2011? I enjoyed that race this year, and I think I'd be happy to go at it again next year...

There was the one year when the TT was the last day of the TdF and Greg LeMond managed to pull off that incredible come-from-behind victory over Laurent Fignon.

But other than that, you're right. And judging from what I've read, there's enough disagreement over the perceived "breach of etiquette" to keep the last stage pretty much ceremonial. However, it would be interesting to see if Schleck somehow ended up like, say, one second behind Contador after the TT, which is the next to last day of the tour.

I don't have that much trouble with sweat getting into my eyes, even though I'm a big sweater. I'll tell you what I don't like. Trying to get the sweaty running bra off after a run. Yuck.

I desperatly need to commit to something early spring so I do not become a lazy McFattie over the winter, and this is about as close a HM to my home that I can get (except for this one: http://www.halfmarathons.net/usa_half_marathons_connecticut_nutmeg_state_half_marathon.html). I did the inaugural one, and I did the 5 K one year.

I don't see anything standing in my way of running New Haven again this year - woot! I'd love to shoot for a 1:30 something, depending on the weather, I know I can do it - and I know the course pretty well now.

While I'm not a fan of Contador and I'm not defending his situation from yesterday, I do think that this quote from Sammy Sanchez makes a lot of sense:

"There is a lot of talk about an incident in the race [Schleck's mechanical]; I believe that we shouldn't focus on something that is natural in cycling - tomorrow it could happen to me or anyone else...

In the race, I didn't know if Andy had a problem or not. He started very strong, Contador went after him, then Menchov moved... From the TV it sure looks great, but in the race, at 200 beats a minute, with thousands of screaming fans on the road... The instinct is telling you to go with the big move and mark the man."

New Haven will be a last minute decision. I'll only have 4-5 weeks to train for it and I'm not sure that I'll be able to run anything more than 1:50+ right now. Judging from Maria's post - she'll be your best bet as a pacer.

And, for Litch's sake, I'll make Danbury 2011 a definite on my calendar.

Every now and then I try to run without a hat or visor and end up hating it when the sweat starts dripping into my eyes. With a hat on I rarely have a problem even on a hot day, but I'm not much of a sweater. I guess I'm more of a panter. :D

I'm getting a massage at 1 pm today by an Olympic Silver Medalist. Unfortunately it's Lance Deal and not Jenn Stuczynski!!! I hope he doesn't hurt me...

Trevor, a guy blew past me at the 10 mile mark and finished one place ahead of me running 1:29:00 on Sunday. I wish I could have covered his move, but I would have had to run 20:41 for the last 5k and I just couldn't do that without blowing up. It's amazing what a difference 33 seconds can make at that point.

I'm rooting for you to get healthy and reach those goals!

Wow, today has flown by. I kinda skimmed through the thread, I saw that people were talking about the Tour and I haven't watched yesterday's stage yet. I had the house to myself and I ended up playing too much Rock Band. I'll have to watch it tonight.

I did managed to do a couple runs yesterday - 4 and 7. Feeling decent, but I just don't have that training rhythm yet. I'm sure it'll come around sometime, I hope.

Duck - I wish I could run a sub 1:30 right now. Blah.

QOD - I don't sweat much, so I don't have any problems with sweat in the eyes or tech clothes that cling to you or stinky, squishy running shoes after five miles. Ha.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before, but I bought this Peet Shoe Dryer and I love it. Shoes are dry in three hours and they don't stink. Our back room used to smell worse than a locker room.

No silver medalist massages, but my massage therapist is named Jenn, and she's been doing a great job. A lot of the work she's done has opened up my tight areas around the hip flexors/lower-to-mid-back and some muscles that haven't been asked to work are now taking on their fair share of it and are feeling it (I've noticed a change in my running gait of late, actually)

Today's lunchtime session was really pretty good, but like the past few weeks, I feel like my torso has been the punching bag for some pro boxer or MMA specialist (oof!)

New Schedule Revision! Free 20 minute run at the Running Room tomorrow night with a free hat! I'm gonna run the three miles there, run a couple miles there, get my free hat and then run the three miles back home. whee! FREE!
