Wow, 11 miles done already! Very impressive...

I felt kinda crappy yesterday (headache and sore legs), so the run was short. Today will also have to be short since I have another 5k race tomorrow. Some day I'll get back to my regualrly-scheduled marathon training...

Good luck today, Kath!

Off day from running for me, so aside from working all day and some core work this morning, it'll be a rest day. I'm a bit frustrated today because my calf is still bothering me. I can feel the knot in it, and I really thought I was on the almost-100% side of this thing. Grr. Been working it with the tennis ball, and if it's not better tomorrow, I'll get an appt with the therapist asap. I'm still able to walk and run, but I don't want to be starting my next training with this still nagging me like it is.

Morning, everyone!

To slow myself down, and save some wear and tear, I ran this morning on the grass of the park, instead of the sidewalk that surrounds it. I ran for time--30 minutes today. I'm going to build up to 60 minutes this way and see where it leads me. I'm traveling soon for a couple of weeks, so it should be easier to run for time than distance.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning!

I'll head out for something once the storms pass and I can get the puppies walked. Watching the TdF right now, yesterday's was pretty CRAZY.

Cindi, I got your emails. I'll make a plan about next weekend once I see how my hammy is doing this week. There is a possibility that we will run a 5k on Saturday out on Park Point. I think MrJenRuns will PR pretty easily and I'd like to just get out and run one super easy just to do it. Will you be in Duluth on Sat? You should race it!!!!

Solar, my calf seemed like it took forever to heal--months later I was still having stiffness and numbness! I'm sorry your's is still bugging you. It'll get better, I promise.

Vidalia- I'm running for time right now too. My biggest problem is getting out there consistently and if I were to focus on distance or pace, I'd get very frustrated at how much I've lost over the past year.

I'm doing the same thing, too, Bard and Vidalia. My consistency stinks, so the only way I won't get discouraged is doing it this way. For now, I'm running without the Garmin and just focusing on the duration of the run.

Gah. I was going to go into work early, but woke up bright and early and decided to run. Unfortunately, after a mile and a half my poor tummy was rocked and I ended up walking home. :(

Tonight is my last track workout for Capital Mile. Race is Sunday. I am feeling a little unprepared and nervous.

3 miles this morning with Evelyn in the stroller. Dave wanted to sleep in so the only way I was getting out for my run was to take her with me. I think she liked it. It was pretty humid, though, so I was sweating like 10 whole men when I got back.

Has anyone here done a Beer Mile? Our local running club is having one this friday evening. Beer, lap, beer, lap, beer, lap, beer, lap. Yikes. I'm not sure I could handle it!

RFTL you amaze me with your early morning ability to get up and run. I am strug-a-ling to get out in the a.m. before work and I'm really not liking starting out every day with a fail.

Hey Hey Hey if you're looking for motivation you could sign up for the next round of the VRAA, which will be headed by the new Commissioner - me. I signed on for that because if nobody did then the VRAA would end and I didn't want that to happen. So I'm in, I hope I don't suck.

Girl have you checked with a doc about your tummy? Could you have Giardia or something?

So I've already blown my goal of running every run as scheduled this week. Last night's home drama obliterated my wee 3 mile run and then I wasn't able to get up this a.m. - just residual stress keeping me from sleeping well I guess. I slept OK, just not great. I could have and should have gotten up. But didn't. bah.

So NEW revised schedule and goal of running every run of the revised schedule AS SCHEDULED.

Old

rest

heh. That was totally unecessary and more info than any of you want but I just wanted to play with the table feature.

Hello all - 8.2 mi yesterday late afternoon in occasional TOG winds. Gonna' go in for some ART today - still can't quite kick this back/ribs/psoas (who knows?!) issue I've got going. It doesn't really bother me when I run, but I know something is tweaked...ahh well.

((((Lora's calf, Mindi's tummy, and all other 30s achey parts))))

RTFL - great job! And here's wishing for some consistency mojo for those of you trying to find it again.

TdF - crazy year in general, and I guess yesterday's events just add to that. Maybe Contador will put all doubts to rest by blasting through the time trial, but in a way, I'd love to see either Schleck put all doubts to rest with a great last couple days in the mountains or have it where they're actually racing into Paris instead of doing the "oh, everyone's happy just to finish" routine.

Nice running everyone - and healing vibes to those who are not feeling up to par for whatever reason.

Well, being the control freak that I am w/r/t my training/racing, I've planned out my races through the end of 2011. The marathons are pretty much confirmed but the tune-up halfs are less certain the farther out they are scheduled. This also doesn't include the my non-racing race entries like the New Haven 20k and others.

Good runs to all.

Morning. Since it's still steamy here, I planned to go to the gym to run on the TM (my TM will be delivered between 12-3:30 on Thursday!). I drove to the office, gathered my gym stuff, walked outside. It had been cloudy when I went inside, when I came out, it was almost pitch dark. There was a Hand of God wind blowing and within 50 yards of the office door, a torrential downpour commenced. I had an umbrella, but by the time I got to the gym ~0.25 miles away, I was soaked to the skin. The rain was blowing sideways so the umbrella was only really protecting my head, but then it was raining so hard, it rained through the umbrella! I was wearing the socks I was planning to run in but since my running shoes were dry, the 4 mile run on the TM was fine (though the TV in front of my treadmill was showing an infomercial of some math program). However, after my shower, all my clothes were still wet, as were my shoes. I was too impatient to blow dry all of my clothes, so I'm in my office, still damp with my socks and shoes off while they continue to dry. I may have to turn the AC down so I don't catch a chill. I'm glad I wasn't caught out in that (which I would have been if I ran outside today). It was not raining when I got out of the gym so the walk back to the office was nice.

Speaking of which, Lora, be careful with the calf - do you ting the trail run messed it up maybe?

Maria - I'll be doing intervals after work today too. We'll do them virtually. After last night's sucktastic 10 miles in the heat and humidity, I'm not looking forward to hitting the track in roughly the same weather tonight.

Here's a running QOD: Why does sweat in our eyes have such a negative impact on us?

In this weather, we all have a tendency to sweat like 10 whole men. Last night on my run from about 6 miles on, I had pools and pools of sweat in my eyes. It caused me to wince, grimace, blink a lot and basically stagger around like a drunk. Why? Why? Why?
