Grommit!!!...What???

Stopped my Garmin in front of the house and it read 6.66 km for my morning run. I'm wondering if this is an omen for my last day at work.

Thanks KZ, you are always welcome to the bar stool next to mine.

Here is a article on one of the Kickrunners who post in the Extreme forum.

http://www.jsonline.com/features/health/96304429.html

BTW the timing of my unemployment works nicely with the ongoing world cup. ccasion5:

I haven't caught on to World Cup fever yet, but I was curious to see North Korea v. Brazil. I wonder if anyone lost a meal ticket for losing.

Last night's workout was wet. 3 x 1K (pace was all over the map 3:48, 3:50, 3:40) with 2:30 easy jog in between. Then we did 5 x 45 seconds with 30 second jogs in between. Then a 5:00 jog, then capped it all off with a 3 x 45 seconds. I went way harder than I was supposed to, but I tend to get carried away in the rain.

If I had my way I would do my hardest workouts in the rain (15 degrees), my easy runs in the sun (20 degrees) and my races in a light drizzle (15 degrees). And all trail runs in a downpour.

KZ: Fast times. We ran the 45/30sec workout on Tuesday and tomorrow, I'll be running the 1200m repeats on the treadmill. I'm looking forward to the DDO 5km race. I know we can help each other out.

I'm running slower these days and I'm going to basics. Even the easy run are run at a slower pace. I'm hoping that this will help me better develop my aerobic base to be able to sustain the fast paces during our races. In particular, I'm keen on finding out what I'm capable for running on a 10km. I'm thinking of running the 10km at the Festival de la santé on September 5th.

I will probably run the half-mary on Sept 5. DDO 5K is a date, TB.

I did 5 x 1200m repeats this morning. I still don't have a watch (I know, it's sad) so I approximated my pace by counting the seconds for each 400 on the track. But it seems that the lack of a watch is a minor problem compared to my early morning math skills.

I was supposed to run the repeats at 4:15 to 4:00 pace (minutes per kilometer), but I somehow calculated this as 80 to 85 seconds per 400m, which is actually 3:33 to 3:20 minutes/k.

Considering my wonky math and suspect counting skills, I am really not sure what I ran, but it was certainly in the 4:15 to 3:30 range. And it felt like a tough workout.

I need a watch, tbrnk. My workouts are giving me sore legs and a migraine.

Our turn for the 45 sec intervals last night...I waddled up the hill to check out the ducks and dragonflies at the lake first...beautiful weather, lots of runners up there..

Liked your weather conditions KZ for running...

Ralf, hope you're feeling better - have a good weekend everyone fly

Thanks for asking. No, unfortunately, I am still sick. My throat is extremely sore. No running, no tourism. And that with some of the finest food around ...

Sorry to hear that you're still not feeling well Ralf, thats some nasty bug.

Ran yesterday morning and this morning. Less energy for it today, left in a drizzle and came in as the sun is trying to break through the cloud cover. Very muggy, should have brought something to drink, now parched and very sweaty.

Not much action out there early in the day, me and a bunch of crazy acting squirrels, eventually one other runner and a couple of dog walkers.

Seems like the hot weather has finally settled in, fly

I ran 10k's up on the mountain this morning. My shin splint didn't hurt as much, so I think the time off is helping.. It isn't helping my times, but the healing factor is more important.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

The recovery from the marathon is complete and the focus on shorter distance racing begins. I've decided on the following list of races -consisting of five 5km and two 10km races:

The Dix/30 circuit:
Parc Régional de Longueuil 5km June 27th
Brossard 5km July 11
Parc de la Cité, Saint-Hubert 5km July 25

DDO 5km August 18th
Festival de la Santé - 10km September 5th
Vaudreuil - 5km September 19th
Lafontaine park - 10km October 17th

Let the fun begin. Anyone else planning on running any of these events?

I guess that my colleagues and hosts over here won't be too happy tomorrow. Let's hope that the German team does better tomorrow night.

Track workout was tough: 2 sets of 7 - 1 minute repeats with a 45 second jog break in between repeats and a five minute jog break between sets. I had the prvilege of enjoying DF's company. We were a group of 15-20 runners and it was nice to return to the McGill track to train following all that construction.

I ran under control but felt that my edge had not returned yet. I feel good knowing that I'm headed in the right direction. After a few more track sessions and races my comfort and confidence shoud be established running at a higher intensity.

I have no illusions about Sunday: it won't be a PB but in the very least, I should be able to pace myself accordingly.

Have a good one,

Well ...... Here we go that weekend is upon me. I've done nothing since last weekend which had me paddling, biking and another 4 hour night run, so if nothing else I'm rested. I have absolutely no idea how I'll do but I'm really excited about this one..... I got to spend Saturday flagging the course, specifically the water section and it's not nearly as deep and cold as last year, but the rocks are just as slimy
I need a favour..... My usually crew support etc has gone a bit pear-shaped so I need someone to amuse Gomez while I do my thing..... Is any body coming up north? I could bribe you with wine.... Send me a message and I'll take care of the logistics... It'll be fun I promise
Muchas gracias
