Hello all! Back from the b'day party. I passed on going to the dance club. The deal was we had to get there before 11 or it would cost $15 just to get in + parking. Couldn't justify it! Plus, this way I can get up early for my LR outside! After stopping early today (though may have been better to go shorter before a LR), I can't skip tomorrow. I only had 2 glasses of wine even!!

Anywho, I needed to say "congrats" to Nettles for getting 7 miles out!! I'm glad you didn't have pain. Take care of the tendon, though... Woot!

Also, glad the new shoes worked out for you BigG. Isn't that awesome.

Oh, and when I was running on the TM today, I kept thinking, there is NO WAY I could go on for 8-9 times longer!!!!!!!!!! Dang, Trev. You definitely have earned my respect!! That's dedication!

Kini- you too! I couldn't believe you said you went in early for work, came home, are going to work again and still doing a run later! Wow!!

Ok, gotta get to sleep so I can wake up for the run!! I have to do 6 in the am. Oooh, reminds me. I should freeze some powerade!

Night!

Happy Birthday KRIS!!! Leo's rule.

Brandy--where did you run today? For some reason I thought you were out of town. Rats, I would have come to cheer you on.

I am a duck. I really like running in misty rain. Humidity was high, but with the rain, it was fine. I ran 10 miles today, which was a repeat from a few weeks ago, but it went so much better and I felt strong at the end, too.

YEA for good running today, and BLAH on all the bad runs.

Your jeep story made me LOL, Voo, as did your opening line.

Welcome Equinox!

Evening All.

I'm Back!!! in the good ole US of A "in the USA"

Thanks to all who wished me safe travels. After starting the thread, they called our flight in Doha and that was a little bit of an adventure. First, when we arrived in Doha for our layover, we were taking the Premium Terminal, that's for 1st class and biz class. When we got there, we were met by airline officials to disucss our flight to Washington DC. Apparently, security is so tight coming from the middle east that you have to be pre-cleared by US Department of Homeland Security before you even get on the plane to leave. So, the took our boarding passes and passports and told us to wait in the lounge. This is a bit unsettling because the 1st rule of international travel is, never get seperated from your passport/papers. But it appeared that there was no way around it so we went to the lounge. Which by the way is SUPER nice. Free food and drinks, nice bathrooms with showers so you can freshen up on the layover.

It all worked out, and our papers were back in our posession about 15 mins before they called us for our flight. They have a portable security checkpoint inside a bus, that we had to go through again before heading out to the plane. Finally, we got boarded for the 14 hr flight to DC. Lucky me, I got row 10 [bulkhead in the biz class] window seat with no one sitting next to me. I was relieved to have so much room and no one to step over for the entire flight. Got some sleep, and watched a couple of movies on the way back.

So, anyway, i'm crashing at the BWI Airport Marriot and leave tomorrow morning @ 9:00am. I'll be long running tomorrow in my own neighborhood.

I've caught up on the thread.

Happy Birthday Kris.

Welcome EQ!

Nice run Voo. Hope you see the cutie in the jeep again. Maybe you can use one of these Jeep related lines:

"Do you have a bikini for yours...if you do I'd like to see it"
or
"Do you need any help screwin' the doors off?

Nice run Nettie

Hang in there Brandy sometimes you just have off days at the races.

Good night all. We'll see if I can get any sleep. Not that I should be keeping track, but it's 9:45am in India. I have a feeling that getting readjusted to the time is going to be a sleeping adventure over the next few days.

Welcome back Tim! Good luck on resetting that internal clock. Also, make sure to pick-up some Gatorade if you haven't done so already.

Hey there, 30s. A good Saturday night to all. For the second night in a row, I went out and had a few beers too many. At least this time, I don't need to run in the morning. Tomorrow is a much-needed off-day for me. But geez, I'm getting too old to drink this much...

Tim, nice to have you back in the States. The country wasn't the same without you.

Nice work, everyone who battled the heat and got in the runs they needed to get in. Sometimes it's hard to reconcile the fact that your times are a little slow, even though the conditions are less than optimal...

Oof, I think I need to get to sleep. Good night, folks...

Welcome back to the USA Tim

Moon you're right, that could be a hilarious bit in a Adam Sandler or Jim Carey comedy.

Well, I did a reverse brick. Ran for an hour, but only got 5.5 miles in instead of the 6 I wanted. Then about a 8-9 min transition and got my bike gear on and biked to my parents house 25 miles away. Quick transition to a swim suit and jumped in the pool. Pool was too warm and I got out and was immediately cooled by the nice breeze. Then we had hamburgers, beer brats and hotdogs with a beer recovery drink. About 100* for the workout portion if the web weather is to be trusted.

2 hour bike ride on tap for tomorrow morning.

Nite nite all.

That's always one of those tough things, trying to decide whether to stick with the original plans or taking a break.

It looks like I might have dehydrated some yesterday out golfing. I drank about a half-gallon of water while out on the course, but when I weighed myself this morning, I was down 3 pounds from yesterday morning.

I think I'm going to pass on taking a bicycle ride. Take it easy today and make sure I get all my fluids back.

Hey ya guys.

So this training-for-a-half-marathon thing just isn't working for me right now. Stuff keeps getting in the way. I intended to run yesterday afternoon, but I asked my friend if her daughter could come over so I could see if my ballerina costumes in progress are going to work and she brought her friend. I knew both 5yo were coming, so I bought them little foam fairy wings to decorate and little stick on rhinestones. Super, right? They could hang out while I worked and it would be fun for all. Except the rhinestones were one big sticker (sorta like how tile comes in sheets) so I had to cut them all apart (they were maybe 2mm size). Needless to say, I did not get any work done while they were at my house. I also gave them a snack; kids can EAT! Gees! First we ate the cherries I'd bought at Hay Market that morning (at least they were cheap, so I didn't feel bad that I wouldn't be eating them again, since cherries are my favorite); then we had watermelon. They wanted peaches, but I only had 2 left and I told them I needed them for lunch (true--esp since my cherries were all gone.) Then we had cheese. Then I gave them 2 pieces of saltwater taffy and told them it was time to walk them home. They were fun to be around (esp one little girl...the other one is a shrieker), but I got nothing done and it was 7:00, I had to walk Penny and I was exhausted. I went to bed last night at 9:30. I didn't sleep well again, but I was only awake for an hour at 3, so it wasn't too bad.

Happy Birthday Kris!!! Craney's right, there are LOTS of us leos around.

Brandy, I'm sorry your race sucked...but it's just one race. You're a good runner and the next one will be better.

Funny stories Voo an Moonie!

Black Crowes: I'm going to see them Friday. Although I'm more excited to see the opening band, Black 47.

I'm sure there is more I should comment on, but I'm going to drag my sorry ass out and get in a some sort of a run. I supposed to run 4 today, but we'll see what happens. Then I'm heading up to my parents for the afternoon and I have to help out tonight with the auditions at the theatre. I'm just checking people in or something.

The auditions are for Hair...I will not be auditioning. Too much tie dye.

OH! I know what I wanted to say. Remember I have those Beastie Boys tix? The shows tonight. I got this response from Craigslist; it's a guy from a non-profit in CA who has a client who wants them and will I swap for a 2 night stay at a Wyndham resort. Of course my initial reaction was no way. But he sent me the info about the voucher (without the number, but with the website and the phone number for Wyndham); I called the number and talked to an agent; what he was telling me checked out, although she couldn't tell me what was available without the voucher number. I also did a little news/google search on this guy and the little non-profit and that checked out too (in fact they use these vouchers in their fundraising, that's how he's got them I suppose.) I also got no other responses to my criagslist post or my stubhub post. So I emailed him back and said, are you still interested? He got back to me, says, yes, great, here's the voucher number so you can register to get your resort stay. And give me a contact number so I can call you so we can work out what to do with the tix. I gave him my cell, he called but didn't leave a message (I didn't grab it in time). Now, I've got the 2 night stay AND the tix! I've sent him 3 emails and called and left him a message yesterday (with his father, hehe) and I still haven't heard back. SO, what the heck do I do with the tix????

Morning folks! I just ran 4.25 miles ... my longest ever! And, I felt like I could have kept going. I'm so psyched.

I saw 2 guys who were in their 70's running. The one guy was kicking butt!

I'll be hitting the music festival today (week long event) and catching some tunes, enjoying the scene.

Good runs to all! Welcome back to the states Tim.

Here's the thing, I registered the number...it's fine. I have no interest in going and I won't even be around tonight. I just feel bad.
