Couple of thoughts:
First, I wouldn't change your shoe until after the race if you aren't affected by the holes.

2nd: If you like the shoe, they do make the 2100 series in a wide width. Have you tried that? It may be a better fit for you.

3rd - Look at the bottom of a pair of the shoes you've worn for a bunch of miles. Is the wear pattern straight up the middle of the shoes? If so, disregard the next idea.

If the pattern wears more to the outside of the shoe, that could be an indication that you are in shoes that aren't right for you, and it could hint toward your pinkies rubbing holes in the shoes. Maybe your feet are getting pushed too far outward in the stability shoes.

4th -- Does your pinky toe/toes stick out a little? Maybe there's a bone that protrudes? I don't mean to find fault with your toes , but I kept wearing a hole in the heel cup of my shoes because I have a bone growth that sticks out of my heel a little on my left foot.

5th: Take all of this for what it's worth. I'm not a shoe expert, but I have been working in a great local running store for about a year and a half, fitting people for the right shoes for them. Without looking at your shoes or your feet/gait, it's tough to know what the problem really is. You don't wear orthotics, do you? That could be the cause, too.

Good luck! My holes stopped when I realized my orthotics were making my feet sit too high up in the heel cups of my shoes, and I broke up with my super expensive orthotics. So far, so good.
