Greetings from the Good Witch of the Midwest

Please swing by my house when you're out with your curtain climbers tonight, because we give out THE GOOD STUFF.

1. Why do you run?
Health, fitness, sanity…in that order.
(And of course to be the HAWTest looking middle-aged jogger on the block.)

2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
Our two sons. I wanted to type some detailed proud mommy specifics about them, but edited it simply to say, “They make us so very happy.”

3. What is your motto?
After removing 50 pounds several years ago, along with increasing my health & fitness, my motto became:
“Get Real. Your old way of life is no longer an option.”

4. How do you deal with bad runs?
Lots and lots of profanity, gnashing of teeth, and wringing of hands.
I even curse at myself in my workout log/journal.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs. Nope. However, because they are so rare, I actually comment in my log about them.

6. Who do you admire most?
My father was (and always will be) my hero. He was a brilliant man who was known throughout the world in his field of molecular biology and biochemistry; yet he still remained honest, down to earth, kind, and never forgot his rural roots.
He helped me see that I had a gift with what I do. He supported me/guided me/coached me/loved me into becoming a confident, competent educator.

To piggyback on this thought, I must add that I truly admire anyone who works with children. <TEECHURS ROOL>

7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received?
1. Pay your bills/don't go into debt.
2. CTFU!

8. What do wish you had learned younger?
To make healthier life choices.

9. What do you wish you could do but can't?
a. find a way to get more dollars into public education to allow for smaller class sizes and more specialist support for our at risk kids.
b. run outdoors, in the daytime, in public, without humiliation
c. be multi-lingual

10. How would your friends describe your personality?
FVCKINGLY funny---->my college roomies once said I had the ability to make folks <snort> and look

I’m also a sympathetic listener; the one everyone calls or stops by to see when they have a problem.

11. What do you wear running? Jogbra, compression shorts, and various layers depending on the temps. Hhhmmmmm, Depends……OY!

12. What has been your favorite race?
I don’t enter events for reasons mentioned in #9, b

13. Do you have a goal race right now?
no

14. What makes you happy?
BIG#1->Being with my DH and our sons on the ski slopes….skiing is the bonding activity that we’ve held near and dear since DH & I met in 1971. Second would be snowshoeing or gardening with my sis and her dogs at our family property.
Third source of happiness is traveling with my mom and sis.

15. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past.
I wrote and illustrated a book of learning center ideas/tips for teachers waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back 29 yrs ago.

16. Tell us one interesting thing about another user of this forum that has not been posted (at least not often) on this forum in the past (make sure the other person will not object to posting the info!).
Not any one person. There have been several friendly and compassionate Chers/PRTers who’ve tried to help me with my porty issues. Their suggestions have been taken to heart, even tho nothing has worked. Thanks for the cyber love, people!
