This week's trail running lesson is brought to you by ivy block. Don't leave home without it. *scratch scratch*<br><br>
I love to run in the Smoky Mountains and I've posted a few pics along the way because I'm so partial to the place. But, on the other side of this little valley I'm in, lies the Cumberland Mountains. I have to toss a ball over those hills if I want to play catch with tomwhite. The scenery ain't bad in that direction either.<br><br>
The south fork of the Cumberland River cuts a nice gorge through the mountains in the Big South Fork National Recreation Area.<br><img alt="" src="http://i39.tinypic.com/wa1xfb.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>
In places, the river meanders.<br><img alt="" src="http://i40.tinypic.com/2z85nas.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>
In other spots, it picks up the pace a little.<br><img alt="" src="http://i40.tinypic.com/dm352u.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>
And, each fall, when the colors are just starting to turn, my track club hosts a little trail race or two up and down and around these hills. Who could ask for more fun than that?<br><img alt="" src="http://i39.tinypic.com/wh1p37.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br><br><b><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Last Week in Summary</span></b><br><br><span style="font-size:large;"><b><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';">abelisle</span></span></b></span> <span style="font-size:large;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="color:#000000;">– all we know is that he kept riding his bike and getting wolf whistles........or maybe his spandex was just sqeaking.</span></span></span><br><span style="font-size:large;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><b><span style="color:#000000;">alan fletcher</span></b> <span style="color:#000000;">– still on injured reserve?</span></span></span><br><span style="font-size:large;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"><span style="color:#000000;"><b>Better than yesterday -</b> 17 miles of running for the week and no computer access to properly report about it.
