Okay, Okay... I know by the time I get through typing this it will be Thursday so I'll start the runnin' thread...

Good mornin' 30's! Wait, that sounds weak... let's try this again...

*turns the mic on, tap, tap*

Good Mornin' 30's!

now get your arses out of bed and start runnin'!

SB Griff is adorable!

Sage What the heck did ya throw at the ottoman or where did you throw it?? Hope the approach to the weekend is smoother sailing for ya!

KP my evening runs depend on my schedule, how friggin hot is it outside, where can I run late... ect. When I am working I try to run between 4pm and 6pm. When I am off I run later at night... usually 8pm-10pm. But I'm gonna have to be a switch runner with my TNT schedule. Long runs with the group will be in the am. I can't wait to see how I handle that.

Question for night time runners... Do you find it hard to wind down after a run and get to sleep or is that not a problem for you?

Hawki Mary is doing well, and I miss her here!!

boB Thought of you tonight while crossing a four lane busy highway. Prayed I was faster than the cars. They missed me...barely!

As for the OBX, Hmmmn. North Carolina sounds like a nice place to visit!

Litch any leads on the frickin shoe bandit?

Tonya Hope you're feeling better today.

Solar You look great, good luck in the Tri!!

Tonight I went to the last of the summer 2 miler series after spending an hour at my local running store trying to find the right shoe and orthotic for me. This was a repeat mission from last week when I got a shoe and spent all week thinking, this is not a good fit for me. I broke down and resigned myself to spending another 100+ on finding something better. The good news is the store insisted I return the others even though I'd gotten them a bit dirty in the weeks time. I kept saying are you sure. My friend kept saying, just shut up and say thank-you. I said thank-you. New pair, much, much better.

The race was just okay. I am not running as well right now as I know I can. It's aggravating me. I will get over it though, it just means I am more determined to get out of my runnin' funk. Talked for awhile with a couple of cool local runners who gave me some great advice about running in the summer in our lovely state. Thank God fall is a hop, skip, and a jump away. But oh, Brandy, ice bra rocks!

Last night I went out to the Happy's Irish Pub runnin' group. It will take some getting use to I think. My friend Leslie met me out there after the run and we hung out. I talked her into joining the club with me and made her buy running shoes today. Leslie says she's gonna go and hang out just to watch us crazy fools. Y'all will love this part. It was eighties night and some of the runners were decked out in eighties fashions. After the run there was kinda like a block party with music and people hanging out at several bars that were next to each other. Pretty fun group.

Sounds like some fun, Tiff.

Sorry to hear abou the battery, Maples. Hopefully it's nothing big...

Had me a nice hill run last night of almost 7 miles. I kept it somewhat slow, and felt fine. Today will be an off-day from running. I'll try to hit the pool or get in a bike ride, though...

Might need to get your alternator checked, Maples.

3.5 mile fartlek run today, it was a lot of fun, I did it a bit more strenuously than runs I've called fartleks before. Now I think I better understand why some say they really like running fartleks, you get freed from the time goals and just try to gauge your effort to get to a mark you have in mind. It feels nice and natural and when you ease down into a recovery stretch, you just amble along and get yourself ready to take on the next speed up zone.

So here's a QoD from that -- do you fartlek?

Tiff, that sounds like a hoot!

I just got back from almost-7.5. It's huuuuuumid out there, but I feel pretty good.

I completely missed the VRAA X information and, thus, missed the sign-up. Bummed about that.

Good morning. Got up and did the 3 miles I skipped yesterday instead of the slightly shorter run scheduled for today. I need to get to bed earlier or something.

QOD- not with any planfulness or regularity. I decided to focus more on improving my base this time around rather than mess around with speedwork that I was inconsistent on anyway. But fartleks can be fun, I like them better than intervals.

Mornin'!

Guess what's going on later today? The Action Week 5 Mile Road Race! I came in DFL last year. Funny thing about that is, I finished in 50:17. And that was only 2 months after having Lena. So I think that was a pretty respectable finish. Who knew a bunch of young university soccer players would show up for that one! I plan on redeeming myself this time around, though.

QOD night running: I love running at night. I have the roads to myself. And it's so nice and quiet and cool. And I never have any problems winding down for sleep. I find it helps me sleep better. When I get home everyone is in bed and I can take my time and get a shower and relax.

QOD fartleks: I don't do them. I do hills instead. My former running coach told me that running hills is like speedwork in disguise.

Good Morning!!!

13 miles to get in today, I'm feeling the effects of the Tuesday's hillwork and yesterday's tempo run just a little bit in my legs so I need to pull myself together. I have two easy days after today, so it should be all good; but sitting on the sofa drinking my coffee and playing on the laptop is seeming like a fine way to spend the morning right now. I am already worried about a workout I have next week---ugh, intervals, ugh.

Funny Suunta story, all of the owners keep in touch so we know can follow the progress of the littermates. So, I get an email last night from one of the women. She knows I'm a runner, so she happens to mention that Dathan Ritzenhein is her SIL's brother and if I've heard of him. Crazy!

QOD: I don't have any scheduled fartlek days anymore, but coach always has me changing up the pace during the runs unless they are recovery runs. But, they are timed or measured and at a particular pace, so not true fartleks.

Lots of stuff conspired against me and I did not get my run in this morning. Good thing about planning a morning run is if you miss it you still have a chance to redeem yourself! So I will run tonight.

So Runner's World has a video log of the 20in24 ultra where some of us did the Midnight Madness. There is a shot of me in Lloyd Hall waiting to start, holy toolbag kids! I look like a fool! The sad part is I had my Kick shirt from Philly on but you can't see it

QOD: So part of the reason I can't do late or late-ish runs is I can't sleep after. So I am looking forward to advice people offer!

SERIOUSLY, owners is now linked???

My gosh, pretty soon every single word in going to be a link and unreadable. I really don't get the point of this.

First marathon , running shoes , fartlek , illness (I think, we'll see what happens?) ....

Wait 'til you see it in motion. Your glasses light up and you laugh (it looked like a sarcastic Lori laugh). It's great!

Have 4 or 5 recovery on tap for today. Was going to get up early and come into work and do them but decided not to so I have to do them at lunch.

qod: in the past I've done my own fartleks once in a while. I do have scheduled fartleks with my current training plan. There are 3 or 4 of them on my tempo days throughout the plan.

Good morning. And it actually is a good one. I am feeling much better today, I think the swelling my glands/throat is going down. So, I got that goin' for me.

I think it also helped to get my sorry bottom outta bed and get my run in today. 4.04 in 45: and change. Felt really good.

QOD - not really
