Once upon a time there was a website which had jpg images similar to the ones at the top of this page. There was a lot of fighting going on between the "in" crowd and those that wanted to be in the "in" crowd and between republicans and democrats and gallowalkers and purists and...<br><br>
there was a server failure and one person started an alternate site. It grew and it flourished. It was different.<br><br>
People left the first one and went over there.<br><br>
Then one day it happened "This place is better than that place", and "I like this better because we don't have the poopy heads" and so it went.<br><br>
Please, please, please resist the urge to dump all over CR. It is what it is. As Granny used to say, if you fling enough shit some will be sure to stick to your hands.<br><br>
This place was started 2 years ago as a way for old friends to connect again. I got a bit anxious last year when the butt-slappers came over for a bit - I thought that this place had to develop its own "feel" and raison d'etre and not be an alternate site where people would take potshots and assert superiority over the other place.<br><br>
Please don't make it like that.

Just to clarify in case people feel that I'm singling them out... I'm not.<br><br>
This isn't about one post in particular, but about how I would like the whole site to feel.<br><br>
One day I hope we'll have new people not associated with any other running site. How welcoming will we be? What sort of a "model" do we want to be?<br><br>
I chose to be here two years ago, I choose to be here now. I'm thrilled to see so many of you here.
