Hey everyone!!

Loved the Superbowl. I was kinda hoping to see 19 -0, even though I was a Giants fan for years before I moved to Seattle. I'm happy to see Strahan get a ring, bummed that Junior Seau probably never will.

LOVED the videos of Voo, Liam, and Nettie. Nettie dropping an F-bomb was funnier than ANY of the SB commercials.

So - I was totally absent from Friday's thread, and never check in on the weekend... I am sure I've missed a bunch. But - here's a story for you. This is why I never saw you peeps on Friday. It was a weird, weird day...

Friday morning I get to work, and I have 3 messages from a detective. BTW - I am in the Domestic Violence unit right now. That's important to the story. Anyway, the detective is FRANTIC!

She was investigating a guy for repeated assaults on his girlfriend, who he also held captive overnight in her apartment. Word on the street was he went to California to stay with his mom. Well, his mom called my detective on Friday morning. Dude had called her, saying he traded his laptop for a gun, and was coming here to kill his ex-girlfriend and her mom. He really hated his GF's mom.

So, detective faxes me the necessary paperwork and I prepped the arrest warrant and found a judge. We got the warrant in the system, and moved the intended victims to a safe house.

Then, we got word that the US Marshalls tracked the guy to a motel in Redding, California. (Those guys ALWAYS find who they are looking for.) Along with a local SWAT team, they surrounded the motel. Heard a gunshot inside, and didn't know if he killed himself, killed someone else, or just discharged the weapon - intentionally or otherwise... I was on the phone all morning with the US Marshalls service, my detective, and my boss. Finally, after trying repeatedly to make contact with him, the SWAT team entered and found him. Here's a story from a Redding newspaper about it:

http://www.redding.com/news/2008/feb...redding-motel/

In D.V. situations, suicidal folks are often the most dangerous. It's a shame this guy struggled so much upon his return from Iraq, but I'm glad we found him before he got here and killed them.

He's probably afraid of getting fired by Roo!!!

I have a theory -- Petty is Dylan's illegitimate child. Not sure if the ages work out, but I'm sticking with the theory. Just. Freakin'. LISTEN to them.

A lot of the troubled vets who land on my desk (or someone like me) are those that will not seek help, or flat out refuse it when it is offered...

Ha!! Yeah, this stuff can get into your head sometimes... Still pissed about the murderous brothers walking away. That one is really making me lose sleep. (Wrote about it last week. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, PM me, and I'll give you the short version.) Apparently, they entered their guilty pleas today and will get their wrists slapped in a few weeks.

Hiya KATH!!!! Nice to see you! Thanks for the love.

And..... Winter!!!..... What...The hell... Are you going to do with yourself??? Won't it be nice to walk in your door and relax? Instead of getting even MORE tense? I am extremely happy for you.
