Well, since Alaska is starting to make noise about a meet-up, it is time for me to fess up. I will not be making the trip to Madison. My mom had a stroke on 7 Aug. out in CA. She is recovering, and the long-term outlook is positive. However, as a result we have had to burn too many vacation days, too much extra cash, and too much training time during a couple trips out there. Plus, since the start of my IM time, my parents and wife have been there for each and every one of them as a team, and I had the feeling that it would be rough on both parents if we went ahead and went without them. It makes more sense to take the over-priced hotel room cost and put it towards our next plane tickets.<br><br>
So, my tentatively planned IM retirement either started early or is being put off for a couple years. Will have to see how it goes.<br><br>
I have been a bit distracted so I haven't spent too much time thinking about not doing IMMOO, but it was of course a no-brainer given the unknown over the last few weeks, and the next few months. I was motivated for the race, and had hit most of my main training goals, but oh well.<br><br>
So there it is.<br><br>
