Even though it is night time for me and I am heading to bed in a few, I figured I would start us off this Monday Morning.

I ran last night, so I know today should be a rest day, but I might try to get in a mile when I wake up in the morning. Yep just a mile.

I hope you all have a great Monday.

Oh. My. God. A new cafe opened across the street from my Y. I subbed a spinning class this morning, so afterward I walked over and treated myself to a muffin. A peanut butter cup muffin. I am eating it right now; it's like a baked Reeses! Holy crap is this good.

Anyway... Biked and swam yesterday but did not run. I'll run my short loop tonight and lift. Tomorrow after work I'm doing my second ever group bike ride.

Wondering how Myron's run went yesterday. Congrats to everyone else... sounds like we had some great runs and workouts the past few days! And for those who didn't have such great ones, just remember the bad ones make us appreciate the east runs so much more.

July Goals

1. Improve my bike pace in my July 14 du. In the du a few weeks ago, I averaged 20.9 mph. I'd like to be 21.5 mph for this one.

2. Finish my first tri with a smile on my face!

3. Start to build up my base so I can begin HM training in about 8 weeks. Right now I'm averaging about 10 running miles per week. Um, yeah, must work on increasing mileage!

Happy Monday, all!

Well I stumbled through a 12 miler this morning. Was supposed to be a tempo run and 13 miles, but I had way too much on my mind. Have some damage on the roof, shingles falling, due to wind this spring. I was planning on fixing them over the fourth, but they're in too rough of shape. Blah, so it was down to the paper and the roof was way too steep to put some tarp on and it's supposed to rain today and the insurance company was no help over the weekend. Got into work and took care of everything. Much more relaxed now. Wow, that was some rambling.

As for the weekend running, I got a 16 miler in on Saturday. Felt nice and easy. One of those start slow finish fast type runs. That gave me a PR for mileage for the month, 426. Yikes. I never thought I could run that far.

July Goals - The only real goal I have is to keep training and stay healthy. I'm a bit nervous about the higher mileage and how the body will handle it. So far, so good.

Doc - I think you found your calling. That's a great result.

I already did:
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs
- 2 tablespoons plus 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup peanut butterDirections
1.In a bowl, combine crumbs and 2 tablespoons sugar. Stir in butter; set aside.
2.In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and remaining sugar.
3.Whisk together egg, milk and oil; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
4.Place peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover and microwave on HIGH for 20 to 30 seconds or until softened. Fold into batter.
5.Press about 1 tablespoon reserved crumb mixture onto the bottom of 12 ungreased muffin cups. Divide batter evenly between cups. Sprinkle with remaining crumbs. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 to 18 minutes or until a wooden pick comes out clean.
6.Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
7.Yields 1 dozen.

Oh and on the site I found this recipe I saw that Derek Jeter is now stumping mens products for AVON. WTF?

It cannot be as good as the brownies. Period.

'morning folks.

Got a small weight workout in yesterday. Otherwise it was a relatively easy and relaxing day. Woohoo!

Roo - If you're not crazy about boarding Hank the Tank, do you have someone you trust close by, who could come by a few times a day to feed Hank and walk him? If not, he'll still be tickled pink when ya pick him up from the boarders. No worries there.

Doc C- Holy smokes! Awesome race, and especially for your first go at a tri!

Beth - Dead camera batteries? Deja Vu, perhaps? /snicker

Nettie - Kick ass on that interview, woman!

All this talk about grilled corn has peaked my interest. Maybe I'll try that on the 4th or this upcoming weekend.

Speaking of the 4th, I'm actually feeling a little uneasy about the Peachtree. It's "just" a 10k, but with the running hiatus, it'll be what.. 10 days since I've last run? Not that 10 days is a long time, but now I'm playing mind games with myself, questioning whether the hiatus was a good idea or not. Grr. Ahh well.. it's a little late to be worrying about it now, I guess. At least i have the bone scan scheduled for Friday, so we can see if that has any bearing on my running, or inability to do so.

McT - Thank you for educating me on the world of beer! Not that I"ll remember most of what was said, but I do remember that you suggested a "fruity wheat" beer to start out.

Maccabeth - Ooh speaking of beer, it looked like the place you mentioned yesterday has two locations in atlanta. one under the 'original' name, and one under Rock Bottom Brewery. We've always talked about getting together for a non-running event. Perhaps this is it!

Okay.. gotta get back to work for a little bit.

Hi Beaker! Good to see you here! It took me only a couple of days to realize I like this site much better. As long as we all moved, I'm ok with it...

OK, headed to Dick's in a bit for those goggles and cap. One last question- are caps all the same? Or should I be looking for any features?

And as for the goggles, going for speedo ones. Looking for tinted ones. Anything else?

Thanks!

Ailarie I'm never gonna live that down am I? As for Gordon Biersch/Rock Bottom- anytime you're ready! I think that RB is right across from Lenox. The GB I've been to is on Peachtree in midtown- somewhere around 14th or so.

Actually! Thanks for reminding me! I was thinking of that yesterday during my run!! I'll be looking for a strap on, as well. Man, Philly is gonna be very interesting with all of us there with strap ons!

QOD Ok time to get serious:

1) not miss any c25k workouts or off day walking (minimum 5 days a week)
2) not miss any home gym workouts - every other day for 3 days a week
3) LOOSE 2 pounds, not temporarily misplace them just to find them again but get rid of them. My goal is 213. I am at 215 now and that is my "low end" weight- when it fluxuates. If I have a naughty week I will go up to 220 but if I behave it stays consistantly at 215. I want to knock down that barrier and push that "low end" weight ......erm.... lower.

I totally thought that you had made hash brownies instead of hash browns! Oops!

What's up 30s?

Haven't checked in on the weekend thread so I'll throw a generic congrats to everyone doing stuff this weekend! It appears that DrC is in line for special recognition.

I finally got back out there after my vacation. Did a nice easy four yesterday without watch or Forerunner. I really should start doing that more often. However, I did realize that I need to get my arse in gear if I'm going to do the Air Force Half in September. Hmmm.

Goals this month: Start working (again) on those last 10ish pounds. Dammit!
Weight train at least 2 x a week.
Enjoy every bit of summer. Which may hinder goal #1.

I made these this weekend and they just may have been my best batch yet! Not one person has ever NOT liked these things, Theia is brilliant for coming up with this recipe!

So yeah, about that avatar and all, um, what?! I actually haven' t had any time to play around. I definately want to add that next to my name, just give me a day...or 20 to figure out how!!!
