LIT Race-together/Get-Together - First Annual?

Since we now have team "apparel," I think it's high-time we aim for a get-together. We have two members (Thor & MBannon) racing in this year's USAT HalfMax National Championships on October 18th in Vegas/Boulder City. They're also putting on the Pumpkinman sprint and Olympic distance races, so there will be opportunities for everyone. And, no, you don't have to race to come out and play. After checking out the sprint and oly bike hill profiles, I'm setting my sights on volunteering and cheering on Team LIT.<br><br>
The Festival begins on Friday, October 17th. The races are on Saturday October 18th. I'm confident LIT festivities could linger into Sunday. With Las Vegas as the local city/airport, I'm betting there should be good opportunities for reasonable airfares and housing costs. Depending on our numbers, a Boulder City/Lake Mead vacation rental or two could be a terrific way to go. Easier BBQing and perhaps even a garage to house a bunch of bikes.<br><br>

Sounds interesting!! If we get good number of people to attend, I would love to come, most likely race! However, I think the best bet would be reserving a block of rooms in a local hotel. Don't get me wrong, I love the LIT crew but sharing a house with a group of people I have never meant in person? Not sure how comfortable I would be with that.

Sounds like fun - I wonder what DH will say when I tell him I am going to get together with some people in Vegas that I met on the internet <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

Oh, yeah. I sometimes forget that people might think it strange that an hour after I first met Ronbo, we were showering together. Sure, fully-tri-clothed at adjacent, outdoor beach showers, but still... some folks might find that odd. Maybe a bunch of hotel rooms <i>and</i> a vacation rental for the BBQ might be the ideal combo. I'm sure we could find a way to accommodate everyone's various comfort levels.<br><br>
If you say "Vegas," he might say, "Can I come, too?" If you say, "Boulder City," he might figure it's best to let you go on your own. Your call which one to go with.

Very tempting I must say; however, since all our A races this year are destination races, we'll likely have to opt out this year. <img alt="sad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad.gif"><br><br>
I am looking forward to meeting a bunch of LITers in Boston and San Francisco though.

Well, coach said it would be okay as long as I didn't expect to have a great race six weeks after IMoo.<br><br>
Now I just gotta get buy-in from the better half. All of my vacations last year were either sailing, running or triathlon related last year and I've really got to work on training objective #1 this year (i.e., Mike doesn't get divorced because of triathlon).<br><br>

Well...there are a few of us doing IMFL isn't there, so for those who can't do Vegas we can have an alternate LIT gathering in Florida. Any takers?<br><br>
No can do Vegas. Too close to IMFL and my budget is spent.

I could go to FL...GA....Most anywhere in the SE, depending on driving distance and timing.<br><br><img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif">

Alaska Mike... would it help or hurt your cause with the DW if we rent a boat for you to pilot on Lake Mead? <img alt="wink.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/wink.gif">

Oooh, is that the marathon you're talking about? Cause if it is, watch out for the headwind ... and the boredom.<br><br>
