1. I like to smack it into a ball first (sometimes I imagine the lump as someone's head) before the big smack on the wheel. heh. Really, I'm not a violent person.

2. I dunno, but after a week alone with Al (the moody co-worker who needs his hand held constantly when we're the only 2 in the dept) it sure helps me blow off steam and re-focus. And not rip his actual head off.

3. Yes. I have a studio in my basement. The kiln is out in the garage. Brotherleenie is an engineer and built me a wheel with left over shop parts. It's all stainless and the motor is big enough that if I was capable I could throw 400lbs of clay on it. Why he thought I'd need that much power I don't know. (It runs on 220.)

I throw pots at a community studio a couple times a month too, more to keep in touch with potter friends than that I need the studio space.

The kiln I fired yesterday was full of tiles so I can test glazes. My goal is to get a bunch of stuff made in time for the spring opening at my friend's gallery, and also a sale a group of potter friends hold.
