Good Morning!!

It's my first day of HM traning!!! YEY! LOL.. and like most trainings.. it's a rest day. I will MAF walk later and do some core.

In Canada it's a long weekend MOnday. Our first statutory Family Day Holiday. Feels weird to have a long weekend in February, but I like it nevertheless.

I don't think I moved last night once I feel asleep and when I rolled over this morning, I just groaned and DH said, "What hurts?" and all I could say was "EVERYTHING!"

So I couldn't sleep last night either. Maybe I was missing my friends, maybe it was the Monster energy drink that I drank w/ dinner (dumbass) but I think it was mainly b/c my legs had the twitches. So as I lay in bed thinking I should write my RR, I concluded that my body was too tired to get out of bed, so here goes!

ST. V DAY MASSACRE RR FOR NICOLE!
We got up to an overcast day w/ a good chance of rain. Temps weren't that bad but it started to drizzle just a bit when TY and I were taking her DD to my mom's house (BTW TY, my mom is going to LOVE the fact that DD calls her "Grammy"! ). So we dropped her DD off and picked up my DD7 who was chomping at the bit to get her "number". So we swing back to my house, pick up the other ladies and head to the race (which was about 2 min. away).

Get there, walk down the hill (well DD7 skipped, hopped and danced down - Gaela threatened to put her number and garmin on her to have DD run the full M for her!) to the course and set up our stuff. My running club was already there and I started the introductions.

The race started and the ladies were off. I was on a 2 person relay and we had decided ahead of time that we were going to trade off in 2 loop increments. DD and I were running loop 3 (and me 4) for my team so we stuck to cheering and cow bell ringing at first. Then it was time for the tag out. My partner Buck was SO COOL he made sure to tag both of us. Well we hadn't gone .25 mile and DD7 started whining and walking. Looking back I think she was really overwhelmed w/ the whole race vibe and the fact that there were no kids. I did have to double back twice the first loop to get her (and I was running like 15MM!) but she did finish (albeit begrudingly! ) and I am proud of her. She says she wants to race again but next time w/ kids.

Well after the really slow first loop, I BUSTED it the second loop b/c I was feeling guilty for indulging myself and DD. I tag out and notice that my mom has taken the girls home and DH is there taking pictures! I hang out, eat a banana and drink some gatorade and keep cheering. My mom calls in the meantime and says DD3 is complaining of her ear hurting. I told her to give her motrin and get ready to go again.

My turn to run again and I notice that TY isn't that far ahead of me so I start to try to rein her in to run w/ her for a bit. Well, that wasn't going to happen b/c each time we hit a hill she would pull ahead of me again! At the end of that loop, she stopped to grab her drink and I caught up but then she told me to go. Well at that point I saw Gaela and instead of trying to be stealth, I yell "Gaela, SLOW DOWN!" Well she looks back and takes off so I scream "DAMMIT GAELA!" and then I realize that there are all these kids around me. OOPS!! Well I speed up and she slows down so we get to run a bit together. This one speed demon guy passes us and Gaela says "That guy has passed me like 6 or 7 times now" and he shoots back, "No, only 2 or 3! " So I finish up my last loop, tag out and grab DH and a GU (my first one ever!) and walk to the potty. I realize when I sit down on the toilet that I didn't stop my Garmin (b/c it beeped at me!). So we walk back to the tent and I get ready to run for the 3rd time. Third times around was pretty uneventful b/c a lot of the fast 4 person teams have finished and I am pretty much running by myself for the 3.2 miles. The one thing I noticed is that my fingers were swelling up and my rings were hurting. I get done, tag out and go and sit down. At this point, I have surpassed my previous longest run of 9 miles and realize that I am really sleepy. One of my running club friends asks me if I am OK and I said, "Just really sleepy". She says I am carb deprived and gets me a bagel w/ PB. I ate a couple bites of it but my tummy just didn't want anything. I am starting freak out a bit b/c I don't know what is going on w/ my body; I don't have a lap top to ask anyone here and my girls are out on the course. Mentally I knew I could finish it but I just needed to convince my body of it.

I get up for my last 2 loops and am shivering like crazy. (forgot to mention that was one of the worst things. The first .25 mile or so when I would hop back in were COLD!) I tag in and start off slow and steady. Not many runners are left on the course so I am just zoning and plodding along. I get to the end and EVERYONE is there cheering like crazy and taking pictures. I grab my teammate and try to get him to cross the finish line w/ me but he's like "No way! I'm DONE!!!" So I cross the line and realize I have just run a 1/2M. I couldn't care less about time b/c I screwed up my Garmin so many times but I had done it. I knew I could do it in May.

Overall it was hard and I realized that I have lots to learn about my body and how to fuel it during the race. But as I lay in bed last night, I realized that I was SO looking forward to running ANOTHER one! I recovered from that race faster than I recovered from either of my PREGNANCIES!!!!! LOL!!!

Well I have to go for now b/c I am going to be late for work and getting DD3 to school. I closing, I have to say that I am HONORED to have run w/ the RM's and strive to one day be as INCREDIBLE as they are!

ALL OF YOU GUYS ROCK AND I SO HOPE THAT I GET TO RACE W/ ALL OF YOU ONE DAY!!!!!!!!

Nicole, although it's hard to deal with our body freak outs (the ones that come out of the fkn nowhere), but it is great that you are actually noticing them and paying attention to the way you feel and how far you can push. You won't for sure end up like #1girl did. You did a fantastic job racing. Your time was incredible for that course AND the stop and go can be much harder on your body than just taking the full chunk in. Because your body can trick you and everytime you are done with your loops, it can think "ok, I'm done...muscles, go ni-nite" and you could be screwed. You're upbeat and made us all feel like we were home. Tell Buck he rocks.

I'm home.

Nicole - DDs say "THANK YOU FOR THE FUN DIP, FINGERNAIL POLISH, AND JEWELED LADY BUG!!!!" And DD#2 was thrilled to receive a letter from you. You are sooooooo wonderful!!!! They love you.

Nicole - Congrats on your first HM!!!! I loved reading your RR. I felt like I was right there with you!!!!

My Knight Rider Review based on the first 20 minutes I saw of it. I think it will flop... I'm a little disappointed at some of the 'themes' that came across in a show that was on the 8:30 time slot. I don't have a problem with those 'themes' in general, in fact lots of shows I watch have them... but for me, Knight Rider should be geared towards 10-15 year old kids, and there is no way I'd let my 10-15 year old watch some of that... That said, I'll try to finish watching it today, but honestly, it was putting me to sleep... I just don't think it's going to make it.

GM! No school today so the kids and I are chilling in our PJ's waiting for little DS to wake up so we can go to a playground. I'm hoping to run 3 on the DM today- but if my blister is still bothering me I might switch my week around and take a rest day. Help-I'm lucky and have never had a blister due to running- but I have one on the bottom of my foot. How do I get it to heal really fast, and what do I do to it so I can run w/out making it worse. I don't want my feet to look like Myron's heel (hee hee hee).

Ty- awesome race yesterday. I'm sorry you feel horrible. Take it easy today okay? I'm worried about you and how you're body reacts after your M's. I know you'll get it under control, but I still worry (the mom in me).

Hi Suds!

Good morning Heather! Do you have school this week? If so, I hope it's easier than last week.

Hi Monika! How are you today?

Chosha- how was your run this morning?
Alemma- I'm still in awe of your #1 finish!!!! WOW! How do you feel today?

Nicole- I was wondering how you might be feeling today after the 1/2 yesterday. I hope your soreness goes away really quickly. You've gotten me so excited to see you in May (now I just have to get all the miles under my legs ).

Good Morning Lee!! I'm so happy you are having such a great time on your vacation.... Night skiing sounds fun!! Never done that..

I'm doing Mississauga Rebook Half Marathon in May.. It's close to Toronto, if you are wondering where the hell Mississauga is. About 45 min drive from my house.
