New Years Eve used to be a big deal for me. My high school buddies and I used to make our NYE plans months in advance. My personal record for most beers consumed in one day happened on NYE 91/92: 25 beers. I think that's about a typical Tuesday night for Voodoo. Actually, I met Maggie on NYE 96/97...

But lately, it hasn't meant too much. I'm too old to party hearty or drink all that much anymore. Last year, Maggie and I were asleep by 11pm. It was probably the first time since I was 7 or 8 that I went to bed before midnight on NYE. I just didn't care.

This year, we've been invited over to our friends' house, where they're having a party for their friends with kids. There'll be a bunch of couples there, and kids aged 0-10ish. But because it's a kids party, it'll be over by 8pm. Yeah, a NYE party that ends at 8pm. Doesn't make sense to me, but whatever. So we'll go there, and then head back home. And maybe be asleep by 11pm again. Fun fun fun.

As for New Years Day... I think I'll start the day with a 13-mile tempo run, and then spend the rest of day watching football (like I do most years on NYD)...

I'm not complaining... except about getting old...
