Hey gang!
Run after work last night - DD went out a bit earlier and did ~4.5, so while I knew I couldn't quite do that much, I did manage 3.2 at a respectable pace. :)

today - out on the bike for the usual loop around the lake...for once the effort matched the pace! I truly have NO idea what is going on with my riding...have a fit check and podiatrist appt scheduled for early August...lets see what they come up with!

Geo - oof that is quite the whirlwind trip! And congratulations to DD!

Supposed to be another HHH tomorrow...we'll see what I end up doing. Toying with a short 1 mile or so run with a lake swim after. Debating about softball though...

Hey all,

Too HHH for outside riding today, and I was WFH so no need to commute. Ended up Zwifting for about an hour after work on a relatively easy group ride.

Glad you had a good run AND a good bike ride for a change Zoj! I can't imagine that there has been some change in fit after all the years you've been riding it. I assume the lake loop has a few hills?

Welcome back, Yo (although maybe part of you wanted to stick around in Canada for a bit longer!). Waiting for the South Park guys to be sued at any minute...

Chris - the gravel bike is probably more road than gravel. Have spent all my years (probably 45 as a rider) on the road, until I picked up a used Cannondale Slate earlier (more of a road frame with a lefty, mild suspension fork). Tires are not super wide (maybe 42c?) and slick, and 650b so spin up a bit faster than 700c tires. I'd guess my speed is 1-2 mph slower than on my road bike, so not too bad. Still not quite the same on the hills - more, I think - a matter of having different gearing that I'm not quite used to. Mostly I use it for rail trails, 'cos the tires aren't really suitable for real gravel riding without much tread. But yes - it's kind of a fun change of pace.

Wait for tomorrow... HOTTER day is coming to you! I saw 93F here in Michigan. Chris, where do you live?

Glad to hear your ride went well Zoj! Nice that you run with DD, that is so special ;)
Hats off to you Geo to continue riding zwift.... I just ... can't go on a trainer in summer.

I was so excited today to hit the 50m pool in Detroit! Perfect day for this HOT day. A whole bunch of people were enjoying the leisure pool, and 50m was.... only TWO swimmers! It's been a while since I swam there/50m pool, yeah it feels tougher. But what a treat, looking up the blue sky and doing backstroke. I could be in the pool forever. They used to charge $2, but no totally free. They also offer free swim lessons to the kiddo's.

Are any of you cooking a next trip?? 2026.... as I plan on visiting my folks in Japan sometime, I have come up with an idea of hitting Hokkaido's Ice/Snow festival. I have never been there for that. In Feb. Yeah super cold, but why not. Thinking to combine Okinawa (like 60F?), literally the south-est end to the north-est end of Japan in one trip!! Of course spending a few days with my parents in the middle. Ticket isn't too bad around $1300. Prob the lowest season. A few National Parks in spring too... :) Wait, I may be down If the surgery has to happen after the next checkup..... hmmmm.
