QOD - I love love love me some hiking! I don't do it nearly as much as I'd like but I'd like to rectify that situation and hike more on my various travels. We found some sweet trails in Yosemite last summer and in years past I've often done the easy drive out to the Delaware Water Gap for some nice not so crazy technical hiking. I also have easy access to the trails along the Palisades which have some gorgeous views high above the Hudson River Valley. I think instead of running there my next trip I'll drag Jason along and do a full day's worth of hiking.

Not fun: pretty much my entire day. Woke up sick to my stomach last night, so bad I had to pace around my apartment for an hour so i wouldn't throw up, finally went back to sleep. Woke to more rain, and a deep desire to stay home but really couldn't because of some deadlines I've got. Wore my good black dress...which I had to squeeze into and when I went to get a yogurt, the button across the bust popped open (right in front of two B&G men and tons of students.) I'm freezing cold, except my face is on fire. And I had plans with TG tonight, because I won't see him again til next week...only he can't make it.

QOD: I've walked trails in the Blue Hills, does that count?...I'm never sure what hiking really is if you don't have a tent strapped onto your back and special shoes.

... I hoisted it up with an underhand grip, left hand only, and walked into their office/waiting room with the tire at shoulder height. I got a "GOOD GRIEF!!!!" and a few OMG looks from others in the waiting room, plus a wide-eyed stare from the girl behind the counter..

1) that's why I have a length of pipe in my car - so i can slide it over the lug wrench handle & get more leverage. (Does that count as a concealed weapon? <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/wink.gif" title="">) We have AAA, but I hate waiting for them. Especially since I can change a tire myself.

I get that look whenever I buy dog food and don't take the boys up on their offer to carry the 40lb bag out to my car. I just heave it up on my shoulder and walk out.

I like this idea. Doesn't have to be Bard planning it, but I think that would be FUN. Although I'd like to sleep in a real bed, please. <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/wink.gif" title="">
 
Hiking: I used to go rock climbing often with oldest Brotherleenie, and we had to hike to the rocks we were going to climb. My favorite place to hike was probably in the Highlands in Scotland. Haven't been hiking since that trip though, cause it's rather pancake flat here. And working crazy hours didn't really allow for it.
 
 
Today - 2nd coat of paint on the walls. Now that it's daylight I'm REALLY digging the color. Still seems a bit intense when we turn the lights on, but... there isn't that much actual wall space, so it should be ok. heh. The half bath though.... I need something on the wall in there. Any ideas for potty art?

Remember Cactus Tri, used to post here a lot? He is a photog and he has this great pic that I keep meaning to order from him for my powder room. It's am old bathtub in front of an outbuilding with twinkle lights on the building. Hard to describe but it is just such a cool pic, I love it!!! I will have to try and find the link to his site for you. Yeah, potty art is hard to find <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/lol.gif" style="width:15px;height:15px;" title="">
 
Thanks for all the well wishes folks. Don't mean to be such an attention whore, sorry!!! In the grand scheme of things, a bad back really isn't so awful, especially when I have such amazing help at home and support here!!!

QOD: I'm a bit of an explorer, but not a hiker per se. QOD: while i love trail running, I've never really gone hiking before. It's something I would love to do, I just never really have, besides little girl scout hiking things with my girls.

BIL (Dh's younger brother) & SIL had their baby this morning. She wasn't due for a couple weeks, but thankfully she went early cause baby was large, and Megan is only as big as one of my thighs. Anyway, Liesel Marilyn, 9+lbs. 
 
Marilyn is for my late MIL, but unless they've watched Sound of Music lately we have no idea who Liesel is for.

 We love the movie and actually watch it every couple months or something. I'm guessing it's a family name though, because knowing B & SIL they wouldn't ever have watched it.
 
Have you tried saying Liesel with the 2nd half of my last name? Do it. Say it 10x fast. <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/lol.gif" title="">

I just got off the phone with the county forest land assessor. Nice guy. Apparently he knocked on our door this morning and Clare answered. She told him "I don't know where my Mommy is." Amy was on the other side of the house cleaning up after the chickens. He shooed her inside and left his card on the door for us.
 
Apparently we have some training to do.
