TV over the computer

<p>I got rid of cable about 10 months ago, but they finally disconnected all of the channels this weekend.  I'm not willing to pay either cable or satellite because I don't watch enough TV to make it worthwhile.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>However, I do want to watch my football games so I've found an internet TV service that looks pretty decent.  <a href="http://www.satellitedirect.com" target="_blank">www.satellitedirect.com</a>.  I only have to pay $49.00 for the initial download and no other fees period. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Anyone have any experience with using just internet TV?</p>

<p>In the UK there are several iPlayer type things but you're supposed to have a tv licence to use them.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I find them quite good, an option to download and watch is often good because it gets you around the jumpy frame issues of lots of streaming videos</p>

<p>that looks interesting Reb...I was looking at FloTV and Slingbox, but this looks better...I am still trying to decide on internet service...since I travel some, I was looking at those little USB sticks from ATT or Clear, but that Virgin mobile device lets you use up to 5 devices...I could use my desktop and 26 inch monitor to watch TV and surf the net on my laptop...</p>

<p>It's difficult to find any legitimate reviews one way or the other.  What you find when you try to do a search on directsatellite review is a bunce of pro and con reviews, mostly on you tube that could be written by competitors and/or people that work with direct satellite.  I can't find any consumer reports reviews so at this point it is apparently buyer beware.  In addition to this product there are  a couple of others out there.  I might go ahead and spring the $49.00 because that's the most I would lose if the softward is less than ideal.  Apparently you have to be careful though because there may be $5.00 monthly charges or so when you hook into certain tv outlets.  So I'm not sure how legit these type offers are.  I know that hulu tv is legit although with much less viewing channels.</p>

<p>I very well might.  After all, the most I lose is $49.95.  I've spent more money on less useful pursuits.</p>

true, I've watched several chargers games on there the past few years.</p>

<p>However, the channels don't always stay up very long...and sometimes not at all.</p>

<p>If you rely on Justin TV, you're going to have to be willing to do some searching as well.</p>

<p>FWIW:  The best site I found for watching a game last year, was from website based in Iraq.  Had a very clear stream of the game, and it never mucked up once, and never went off-line.</p>

<p>Of course, when I went back to that site the next week, it didn't work at all.</p>
