On what day is your garbagio picked up?

<p>(My dad called it "garbagio" with a fake Italian accent, when we were kids. We laughed.)</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Our garbagio day is Tuesday.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I wonder why the recycleables can is three times the size of the regular garbage can. I wonder why we cannot put barbecue ashes in the trash. Where are we supposed to put it? Argh!</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>What day is your trash picked up and what are your complaints or queries about the whole process?</strong></p>

<p>I once wanted to be a sanitation worker (high childhood ambitions) because I thought they only worked once a week.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Our trash collection day is Friday.</p>
<p>And I have no complaints. Except for the boy who dated my daughter who is an heir to the local garbage king.</p>

<p>Tuesday.  We have two big bins, one for garbage that is empty every other week because we just don't have enough.  The other is for recycling.  We now pay to recycle less than we did when we did everything ourselves for free.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>There is a site in a neighbouring town that takes ALL plastics.  ALL.  Subsidized by the Lions Club I think.  At any rate we'd make a recycling run every month or so to get rid of things.</p>

Now the city has started recycling and for the fee we can recycle less than we did before.  I know on balance that overall there's more being recycled, it just sticks in our craw.</p>

<p>We had a city waste management person ask why our garbage load was so small.  (1 kitchen catcher every 2 weeks).  It's easier if you're vegetarian, recycle and compost.  But apparently we aren't doing our part in evening out the garbage load or something.</p>

<p>My mother always said garbage with a french accent (rhymes with montage).  She also called JCPenny Jacques  Pené.  Both annoyed me.  I would have preferred garbagio.</p>

<p>I don't know what day our garbage pickup is.  The cans stay in the alley so there's no rolling them out for pick up.  I've never noticed the truck.  I just assumed that there were little garbage gnomes who take it away in the middle of the night.  Speaking of "middle of the night," my mother also says "by the light of the moon" when referring to anyone doing anything outside in the middle of the night.  Geez, I'm really digressing here.</p>

<p>Our trash is picked up every Monday morning - for that we have a 105 gallon container.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Our (single stream) recycling is picked up every other week - for that we have a 95 gallon container.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>We can also go to the local transfer station on Tuesdays and Sundays if we feel like transporting our garbage/recycling on our own or if we have bulk amounts of either that we'd like to get rid of.</p>

<p>Oh, the schedule can change based on stat holidays.  That drives me up the wall and back.  I can understand missing a day, but changing the schedule... "Monday pick up  will now be Tuesday, Tuesday will now be Wednesday" because of a flipping holiday is just wrong.  Get some guys on overtime to handle the catch up.</p>
