Great job to all the weekend racers

I buzzed down to the shore late last night and did 12 miles here this morning. Last 4 miles were 2 mins hard, rest of the mile easy. Repeat. It was hot. Run went ok, though. Got back to the house and stripped off my shirt and shoes and jumped right into the ocean... which was warm, and served no "ice bath" purpose whatsoever

Oh well. It's pretty nice up there at the beach right now, so I may stick around for a little bit before I have to head back home.

I think you got that backwards. Jack = bulldog = sloooooooooooow walker. Gustav = german shepherd = lets go FASTER!!!!

When I walk them together we're usually single file: Gus at the end of his leash in front, then me, then Jack as far behind as the leash will allow. Gus is pretty patient with him. He'll stop and turn around and wait.

On occasion he gives Jack a poke though, which is funny.

Morning. Easily the most humid weekend in Minneapolis. Dew points were about 70 Saturday and Sunday mornings. Made running so much fun. Did 10 on Saturday, was supposed to be a workout, but bagged it after the second tempo mile and just did 800m tempos around the lakes. Sunday was supposed to be 18 with five at GRP. Well I did four of them at no where near pace. I was barely hanging on during the long run.

Some great race results this weekend.

Theia - Nice job on the age group win. That's freakin' awesome.

Jen - Those pictures make me miss Florida. Maybe not the humidity. Oh yeah, you look great.

Afternoon all! Monday has brought a wave of change for me; after much deliberation I've decided to pull out of the St. George marathon. I'm not where I want to be with my training and I have no intention of running another so/so marathon. There are tons of pros and cons and in the end I decided that pushing my goal fall/winter race back would be the best call. The good news is I feel like I'm completely recovered from my butt/hamstring injuries and continuing to follow a path that will keep me healthy and strong. With this in mind I've signed up for the CIM (California Int'l Marathon) on 12/6, putting me 16 weeks out from the race. I'm going to continue using Hudson's Level 2 plan and get things going with a 10 mile fartlek run tonight w/8 x 30 secs @5KP

Yeah, Florida is very pretty down here and this race location (Virginia Key) with Miami in the background with the sun rising over the ocean was breathtaking BUT racing in 78 to 80* dew points and near 90* air temp sucks! I was shocked as sweat was pouring off of me on the bike, yuck. South Florida is a great place for a lot of things, but it's not a place to train for marathons! There are a ton of Tri folks down here, though, it's pretty competitive. I think since you can train for the swim and bike year 'round pretty solidly and the run is good for 6 months. It's interesting looking at the people in the tri, most are not runners that's for sure. Decent swimmers, really good bikers, but not runners save for the top few. I guess that makes sense since the bike is by far the biggest time chunk of these things!

Baggs, I'm also with you on MP runs in dew points over 70*--it just doesn't happen outside! If it did, then I'd know my MP was way too slow for a race in normal conditions .

10 miles this morning in the off and on rain. Felt great.

Jen your photos are impressive!

Congrats again Theia, what a wonderful performance.

Unfortunately my tri experience is in jepardy at the moment since I still don't have a bike, won't potentially until mid week which is also when I leave town to travel to TX. I'm just not sure I can deal with the stress.

Yeah, it was amazing - Tyson matched Usain's speed by mid-race, but unfortunately for him he was behind at that point.

So what is the fastest you think a human can run the 100m? Will there ever be such thing as an un-breakable mark in this, or will there be some Usain Bolt-like freak in the future (or maybe even Bolt himself) who can actually break 9.5 or maybe even 9.4?

Hey, with my trip to Wyoming only a few days away, I've been meaning to ask some questions of you guys...

I've asked the race director if I can run with Joe's bib and chip, and she said okay. So I suppose I'll just pin both bibs on my shirt, and tie both chips to my shoe, right? Does that seem to make sense? How do I do it? One bib above the other so that you can see both? Or one pinned under the other? Or one just carried in my pocket? Hmm...

I bought a rasta wig at Party City, and I may try to run with it. But "nothing new on race day", right? I'm afraid this is going to be a disaster...

Anyway, if I run with Joe's bib and chip, I suppose that means he'll get credit for running the race, right? I mean, his name will show up on the finisher's list, etc. Well so far, he's done 18 marathons in 9 states (I think). So if he gets credit for Wyoming, that'll be his 10th state, and would thus allow him entry into the 50 state club. So do you guys think I should contact the President of the 50 state club and see if we can gain Joe posthumous membership? Is that a good idea, or is it cheesy?

I don't know. This is all new territory for me, and I don't really know what to do...

Thanks...

boB, if you do the 50 state thing will you have to impersonate Voo at every race?

Or would he just get the 10 of 50?

(not being a smartass, just don't know how this works either.)

Congratulations on the great weekend racing!

I'm still playing catch up in all areas!

boom bang - out of the park! Nice work for a Monday young lady!
