Ugh. Both make me want to shoot myself. I dunno how you folks in cold states do it.

I think the longest I've run on a track is maybe 3200m... and perhaps 5 miles on a dreadmill. I wanted to poke my eyes out afterward, but once I got off the DM I felt seasick and had to go lay down.

I think about 7-8 on a track, and 18 on a TM.

I could only do that kind of mileage on a track if it's an interval workout. No way could I last more than maybe 3 miles easy pace. Too boring.

I could go longer on a TM if needed due to weather. I alternately let my mind wander, have music/TV/DVDs (one of the Y's in this area has a DVD player with each TM and a couple gyms have individual TV screens), or recruit buddies for company. I prefer outdoors, but definitely have no problem with the treadmill. I'd rather do a long run on a TM than something like 7-9 miles on it, for some reason.

i've done a couple of 5 and 5.5 hour runs on the TM, though WTR wins the track award.

I have run 10K on a track...it was a race.

I ran 100 laps of a cruise ship track which should have been around 6 miles. The guy with me said his GPS said 25 miles...I'm thinking the fact the ship was moving at about 20 mph may have had something to do with that.

20 miles on the dread...it was treadful.
