I ran something called the Lyons River Run today. Lyons is a cute little town close to Boulder and Estes Park, Colorado. It's surrounded by red cliffs and apparently, and this is sweet news to me, it's the place to go for all of your rock and quarry-related needs.

I completed the race in 30:18. Now, this is 18 seconds longer than I wanted, but I'm still very pleased; this is a 4:36 improvement over my last 5K.

The neatest thing is that one of the runner gals had long, braided hair and was wearing this ankle-length plaid jumper dress. I immediately thought of those really young Mormon multiple wives.

But the chick could run.

Thanks, EQ. And even after I teased you about your tear-away sweatpants...

That's okay, you should hear some of the teasing I take from the gals in work when I take the tear-aways off revealing the spandex shorts!

Again, awesome job. I hope you're improvement continues.

So you didn't quite hit your stretch goal, but you finished with a PR. Nice job! Did you learn anything notable during this race?

One of these days when I come out to CO you're going to have to teach me how to run.

The "schwag" was amazing. They handed me a grocery bag at the finish line and pointed me towards a long table groaning with freebies.

I have one each of every "food bar" known to mankind: organic, vegan, soy protein, cliff bar, power bar, luna bar and a lara bar. Even a bobo bar. I like those bobo bars. They're oat-y.
Toothpaste, mouthwash, salsa packets, honey sticks, oranges, stevia packets, lotions, sunblocks, dr. bronner soaps. Rice crackers, cereal, deodorant.
Herbal tea bags, arnica gel, emergen-c fizzy drink stuff, more fancy-pants lotions.

All that was missing was coffee.

PR!!! Woohoo!

Congratulations Bux!

I've seen a gal at a couple of ultras that has long braided hair and wears a long denim skirt. I thought it was unusual attire for running, but man she can run too!!!

Hee Hee! That's what my daughter wore during her HM last month. My brother and his wife were at mile 5 for pictures and got a surprise when the tear off warm ups came flying their way.

Congrats on finishing the race! Sounds like you enjoyed the scenery!
