Yes....the bike is safely in my hands.
Rather, it's safely locked up at home, now.

stu373....I had an interesting conversation with the officer who returned it to me.

He advised me to tell my neighbors that if the kids that were originally seen "backing and forthing" (aka "casing" behind our houses were to be seen again, to diall 911 and report it. I spoke with my neighbors (when I got home) and let them know that it was back, and to thank them for the info that they gave me. If it hadn't been for them speaking to these kids and finding out the general area where they lived, I never would have known where to drive around and look. My OTHER neighbor said that our across the street neighbors have had kids (same? not same? dunno) actually come up to their house and start banging on their windows. So.....We've got to be more diligent about watching out for each other and keeping lights on and such.

When my bike was taken it had:
brand new tires (got rid of the knobby mtn bike ones and got slicks)
brand new cateye bike computer (not top of the line, but barely had 3 miles on it if that).
bottle cage
toe cages
That was it as far as "accessories."

When it was returned it had:
SAME brand new tires
SAME brand new bike computer
SAME bottle cage
NO Toe cages.
Go figure.

When the police officer returned to the house after school, a lady answered the door. She said that she saw the bike in the yard that morning and thought that someone had dropped it off for one of her kids, so she brought it into the house. Ummmm...... dunno as to I believe that, but, she handed it over pretty quickly and easily, I suppose. The PD sent someone with a truck to get it and I got it from the police station. Never seen the inside of a police station before. he he he. At least it was for a "good" reason, and not for being in trouble.

T.....If I'da stuck my tongue down that poor boys throat.....think I woulda seen the inside of the station after a ride in their car? Wait! No....they're bike cops on campus....they would have had to "ride me on the handle bars" to get me there. Ohhhh, the vision that brings to mind.

So, tonight I'll take the bike BACK to the bike store to get it checked out again. Maybe I can get a pity discount. The police said to save all my bills, just in case they're able to get an identified suspect and all that. The neighbors seem to think they know exactly who it is and where that person lives, but..... I'm not holding my breath on it.

At this point, I'm just glad it's back.

AND, I've very very much learned a lesson regarding keeping the dratted door closed! Ugh. I hate learning the hard way. lol
