Since all he is going to do is apparently kiss the Republicans where the sun doesn't shine, I might as well have voted McCain/Palin.

Maybe I'll just apply for asylum. If that doesn't work I understand Castro still has a fondness for Rebels.

Clinton compromised. Obama has surrendered. Outside of a very marginal health care bill he has done nothing nor accomplished any changes that I voted him in for, nor upon which he campaigned.

This was simply the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

Maybe Hillary will run again in 2012. She apparently has more testosterone.

Obama is sleeping in the political bed he made with healthcare reform by mistaking his election for a popular mandate to govern to the far left. Victorious political opportunists always do this. They always, always, always overreach. Bush II did it. Clinton did it, both as a governor where he was voted out after his first term, and then, bafflingly not having learned that lesson, as president in his first term.

This would work of Members of Congress also had no benefits, such as health care, retirement, paid vacation days. Then meaningful legislation would be accomplished.

I still think that Obama is being stabbed in the back by all the Dems that rode on his coattails in 2008. Pilosi being the biggest backstabber of them all. Of course, a lot of them paid the price and didn't get reelected.

Be that as it may, he has to do something, or he's out in 2 years.

The dumbest thing the Republicans can do in 2012 is nominate Sarah Palin. The second-dumbest would be to nominate Newt Gingrich.

Not far down the list would be to nominate retreads like Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romeny.

Also right up there would be to nominate Jeb Bush.

While I will never underestimate how stupid the Republicans can be, I have to think they are smart enough to realize that none of those people are the right answer. And especially since right now the public pretty much hates any politican they know, the Republicans are probably best off nominating someone who is relatively unknown now. It worked very well for Obama in 2008, since nobody knew anything about him other than the fact that he's black. Here are some candidates that I think all have a better chance in 2012 than any of the ones I named above.

Mitch Daniels, governor of Indiana

Bobby Jindal, governor of Louisiana

Haley Barbour, governor of Mississippi

Tim Pawlenty, governor of Minnesota

David Patraeus, U.S. Army general

I'm a little skeptical about Barbour's chances to win a nationwide general election because he's got a little too much "Good Ole Boy" in him. But the others are all candidates will be much harder to kick around than people like Palin or Gingrich, etc...

One needs to remember that the sitting President almost always gets re-elected...good, bad or indifferent. Only 4 elected Presidents in the past 120 years failed to be re-elected. Also many presidents seen as excellentin history were in deep doo doo during their first term.

Nowadays though you only get one chance at election if you get the nomination...You are in Loserville if you don't make it.

Therefore as a Republican you better be confident you can win, because if you don't you won't be running again in 2016.

Personally, I could see Obama just saying "Fuck it", being satisfied to be the first black President and realizing this war between the parties cannot be won....and that it's not about governing or running the country, but merely about winning.

It didnt surprise me that so many Americans fell for the "hope & change." And it doesn't surprise me now that so many have become disillusioned and voted back in conservatives in the last election.

Yeah, he did come out of Illinois where the game is all about winning.

I'm guessing the pressure to run again is pretty strong and probably the ego of any frontline contender is even stronger.
