<p>I was thinking about all of the hullaballoo about that Tea Party gal who apparently said that she had dabbled in witchcraft, and the chatter about Obama not going to church.</p>

Would the leaders of the past pass muster today?  When FDR died a great majority of the citizenry didn't even know that he was handicapped.  JFK's Addison's disease was a well-kept secret and may actually have helped him win the debate (the steroids he took made him look ruddy and fit).</p>

<p>We in Canadia once considered our WWII leader, William Lyon Mackenzie KIng to number among the greats, but it turns out he availed himself of cheap prostitutes, consulted mediums to talk to his mommy and his former pets...  he was actually batshit crazy.</p>

<p>So I guess I'm saying that what we didn't know didn't hurt us.   Why do we care so much about this crap?</p>

<p>It certainly takes a special kind of masochist to be a politician now.  Your entire life is put under a microscope (for example, "that Tea Party gal" Grizzly mentioned who had a comment about Witchcraft at a 1997 Halloween party pop up and get her in hot water now).  And just by choosing a party, you instantly have half the country hate you.  Of the remaining half, a good percentage of those will find a reason to hate you before too long...</p>
