I did not see that one coming... If they go with start times to favor the fans of the cities whose teams are in it, which they should, it will be on way to late for me to watch. I was expecting the Phillies to come back right down to the last strike. The Giants can really pitch. It has been along time since they had something to cheer about that is not steroid enhanced. The Rangers were less of a surprise, but I was still surprised they beat the Yankees. I would like to see a decade or 90+ loss seasons for the Yankees to bring their fans back to every other team's reality. Not going to happen, but I can dream .

My next door neighbors are Jamaicans and the only time I hear a lot of noise from their house is during the World Cup. They show no knowledge concerning football or baseball, although they seem amused when I'm flying my Georgia Tech flag outside on game days. Of course, as bad as GT is playing currently they might be just having a good laugh.

I will say Go Giants! too, but I worry because the Rangers

1) Have Cliff Lee (I don't know how the Phils decided to let him go) - he's proven he's lights out in the postseason (7-0, 1.26 ERA in 8 games)

2) Have Bengie Molina (who played catcher for the Giants until they brought Buster Posey up and was traded to the Rangers) - he knows the Giants' pitching staff left and right

3) Have a pretty dynamic offense, which is a Rangers' trademark almost

Funny thing is Molina gets a WS ring no matter who wins - what a bargain!

Yeppers, virtually any baseball person would make that trade any day...and Cliff Lee is really good!

Molina will get a ring with an asterisk if the Giants win.

They have flipped the collective middle finger at the MLB's big market franchises and taken matters into their own hands to restore order and balance to the force. But now nobody else remains, so they shall battle it out amongst themselves for the coveted bragging rights. It has been quite some time since such an epic west of the Mississippi showdown, and this contest shall not disappoint!

It begins tonight!

Well, Lee wasn't really traded for Halladay - they got minor league prospects from Seattle for Lee, and used that cash instead to sign Halladay. Theoretically they could've signed both, but it would've cost a pretty penny.

Only thing is, they knew what they had in Lee - he was lights out during their 2009 playoff run, and he has duplicated that this year (not that the Phillies would've know that, of course.)

Halladay is a dynamite pitcher, but never had pitched in the post-season prior. He did have about the best game you could have against the Reds with that no-hitter, but was only merely okay against the Giants (who aren't exactly the biggest offensive juggernaut around)

Yes the Phillies couldn't have kept both Lee and Halladay because they are NOT the New York Yankees. They also needed to trade Lee to replenish the farm.

I'm sure Lee will be great against that non-juggernaut offense of the Giants...OK, the 5th inning has just ended before I wrote this.
