February 27 marked the first The First Equirria for the Roman Empire - a day on which horse races in honor of the war god Mars were held.

Enjoying a lovely breakfast of beef bullion and Gatorade prior to a day of clear fluids. Hmmmmm. Thinkin' I'll keep the calorie burn to a minimum today - but might pick up some heavy things at lunch.

Praise your god tri-peeps!

Alright, work has been stupid busy the last 2 days so I inadvertently turned them into rest days. Crap. So TODAY I am retesting my swim. I would really like to win the lottery so that my job no longer interferes with my life...

Okay, I'm done with my crabby rant for now

LRR - I am not sure if I can survive with that kind of breakfast... good luck clearing your system!

Early morning Strength Endurance session on trainer. Oh My. Planned to do {10min/5min rest} x 4 close to AT, but I thought, hey there is no way I should try something similar to what JR does after little trainer work all winter, so I cut the 10min to 8min. Phew, I needed every sec of 5 min rest!

Swim later. Maybe.

Master's swim this morning, 3150 yds. Last night I had a nice and easy 5 mile run in perfect running weather - 56F. Tonight will be the 65 min spinerval time trial dvd, so I should be good and tired tomorrow!

I slept terrible last night....woke up at 1:00 am and was awake until 4:30.....oh, I planned on getting up at 5:00 for my workout but no, I hadn't slept....at that time sleeping until 6:30 was more important Julie needs her sleep!

So, hoping to squeeze in some time on the trainer later.......will be in bed by 9 for sure!

LRR: ..........hey at least you'll drop a few pounds!

I was going to get up for an hour spin before shoveling the driveway, but our dog kept us up for three hours last night. When the electricity goes off in our house, the fire alarms chirp, once. Our dog freaks out whenever she hears that sound and for an hour she was on and off our bed, climbing into boxes in the closet, and generally just making a nuisance of herself. As soon as she finally settled down, the electricity goes back on, causing the fire alarms to chirp once again, which freaked our dog out all over again.

So I slept in and my only training was an hour spent shoveling the driveway.

Maybe I'll get out and enjoy the snow at lunch time.

So I'm going to cheat today. I didn't get my workouts in until late yesterday, so I'll post em today.

Yesterday -
V02max workout. All out. 3 x 1 mi w/4 min rest, 3 x 0.5 mi w/2 min rest
Hit the mile repeats in 5:23, 5:33, 5:28. Half miles in 2:51, 2:46, 2:41
With WU and CD, 11.2 mi in 1:31
This workout hurt. Bad. How the hell did I ever run a 4:36 mile? If anyone finds my fast-twitch muscles, please let me know where.

Finished up with an hour of weights and core exercises.

Today -
Masters swim this evening, followed by a 2 hour moderate trainer ride. Gonna be another late night.

When I 'cook', I have a tendency to set-off our kitchen fire alarm (which is on house power, so I can't simply disconnect the battery). The alarm freaks out the dogs. My wife claims that now, anytime anyone opens the oven door, the dogs cower in fear.

Wow! It sounds like everyone is having a rough week/morning! It's hump day, though!! It's downhill to Friday!

I'm going to the gym for some weight training and a run on the TM. I'm not sure what kind of run I'll do. I don't feel like running at all today for some reason. I may do intervals just because it isn't as monotonous as just running the same speed. I really don't like the TM!

It got pretty cold here last night. It was 33 this morning when walking DDs to school. Burrr! It got up to 84 on Monday! No wonder my allergies are CRAZY right now! It is supposed to be nice the next few days, though. I have a ride with a friend scheduled for tomorrow, so I'm excited about that. It is in one of the nicest areas in Austin (and hilly), so it should be nice.

I think I had my first "Quality" run today.....
When I have Quality Swims as Ann puts them....I did good intervals, and usually end up tireder than crap about 2:00 in the afternoon.

Today was "play with pacing" (my terms, not CS's). Felt surprisingly on target as compared to what the gadget was saying.

ended up 4.9 miles in about an hour.

Dreary Wednesday morning here in New England as the morning air threatens to spray a form of precipitation with nothing actually falling to the ground but while everything remains wet.

Mike: Awesome splits. How long ago was it when you did that 4:36 mile? I've always believed that if you've been there before, you will get back if you really want -- but you really gotta want it. Still, don't lose sight of how awesome your splits are for your chosen goal of sub-2:50 at Boston. You don't need them any faster. All you need the the endurance to hold a semblance of that pace.

Me...

Although I'm still feeling the after-effects of the Flu, I am definitely coming around. My energy is up, I'm not sleeping nearly as much (although still more than normal), and although my power is not there yet, it feels much better. Right now my lungs are still badly damaged, and I feel it when I try to push any pace.

4+ mile run early this damp morning. Pace was solid, limited only by my lungs. Which is progress in that my body isn't the limiter anymore. Followed immediately by...

40 lap steady easy swim. First swim in over 2 weeks. Pace not bad :57-:58 secs per 50 yard. I'll take it considering I didn't push pace. But I felt my lungs limiting my power. Entire body was sore going into this swim from recent gym activities after having been away for 2 weeks.

Great day, Tri-peeps!

Another 8" of snow here. Good thing - we don't want to run out.

Had my braces rewired yesterday and some of the brackets moved. Ouch!
Woke up at 3:30am with my jaw/head pounding so now I'm tired and I can't chew anything so it is a smoothie day.

Will run later followed by strength training.
