Way to go flbk! (Damn early birds!)

M-Dawg and I met Ironboy and the Andyman in the cold and dark outside my house this morning where we waited for a new cohort, Natasha Fatale, to join us for the usual Tuesday morning 5.65m loop. We picked up The Diesel around the corner and kept the pace just a bit quicker than recent weeks - always faster with new energy!

9) 3:31.59 (15:48.53) -- I stopped early, then finished the last 100. I miscounted but the guy who was counting laps for me started me back up again. So, this is likely the last 2 100s...or a mis count.

I'm pretty pleased with this, despite my inability to count.
I need to start learning how to get more even splits throughout the distance, but that will come with practice, I think. Although, the last half was descended.... still. That first part is a little ragged.

All in all...a reasonable swim this morning.

PLUS, my normal Tuesday weekly meeting has been changed to be bi-weekly now.....so, no need to get all official this morning. Yayay! Extra time to do my annual evaluation packet. blech!

Back on the trainer last night. Did 30 minutes with 10 min spin followed by 20 minutes of moderate intensity intervals. I'm going to start adding time to this workout next week. Difficult to assess workout because my computer was balky in terms of speed. Still trying to determine how tight to get the trainer on the rear wheel. It seems so random anyone have a good trick for this?
Tonite I have a father/son basketball game hopefully followed by a outside run if the weather cooperates.

Well 600 meters in the pool, 500 continous in 9:27. He he . My goal for this weekend is 9:30 for 500 so i don't see this as an issue. My only concern now is trying to swim to fast. Hopefully the other swimmers will keep me in check.

I am getting anxious. Not to excited about the weather forecast right now. Isolated T-storms and high winds. Yuck.

Sleepy sleepy morning for me. I managed to roll out of bed and squeeze out 45 minutes on the elliptical. I'll hit the trainer tonight for the time trial spinerval; hopefully I'll feel a little less sleepy....

And that's why my sig is what it is. Well that, and I just love those movies. This will really blow your mind. I don't even use my alarm to get up. I set it 1 min later than I actually want to get up, just in case, but it almost never actually goes off. Before bed every night, I tell myself to wake up at *:**, and then I do. The only time it ever goes off is if I stayed up way too late, or am extremely tired.

Me too! I thought I was the only one with this superpower

I can always tell when life is out of balance when I can't get up before the alarm.

Me, 25min easy run on the dreadmill. Will try for 40min on the bike later.

Well I'm an idiot.... I went to register for Boston last week while on vaca and found they they had already closed registration! My own fault I guess. The upside is that now I can devote all my energy to tri training instead of taking a month or so for tapering/recovering from the marathon. And I've signed up to volunteer instead so that should be fun (I hope).

Anyways, easy 10 this morning. 1 hr trainer tonight.

Wow great swim! You are fast. I could use some of that speed.

I was also up at 3:30, but only because I couldn't sleep. Too much wine last night. I decided I would get to the gym and lift:

45 minutes of strength. Little sore from track workout yesterday but manageable then masters

3000 yards, new coach, we use to do more with the old coach. Not that great of swim, but at least it was good to get back into the pool.

Later today: 90minute hard computrainer ride. Some zone IV efforts in there.

Keep it coming!

4:30 @ 80%, 0:30 @ 90% for 1hr on the OC1. Really concentrating on bracing my core muscles (and trying to use my legs). I suspect I will be quite sore tomorrow!

Yesterday was sprints - 2x1000m, 6x500m, 6x250m. Was supposed to be 6x1000m but it was hot and I just overheated on the 3rd one - had to stop and get in the water to cool down. Did extra 500s and 250s to make up for it.

Nice to actually get out there - been over a week. Damned work!

There is no way I could get up at 3:30am to train. I need my sleep!

Stitch-Whoa, speedy fishie care to share

All of you early risers put me to shame today. Had big plans to do my ride this morning before work, but when the alarm went off at 5:45 I snuggled under the covers for another 45 minutes. Of course now I have to ride after work and I feel like napping...zzzzzzzzz

I never used to get up before 7am. Usually rolling out of bed at 8am. Now, I get up between 5-5:30am. Pisses me off when I have a rest day and plan to sleep in but I wake without the alarm anyway!

Stitcher--glad to know I'm not the only one who can't count. What usually happens with me is I'm swimming along, thinking 2, 2, 2, 2, flip, then rather than moving up to 3, 3, 3, I"m stuck at 2. Then, I can't remember if it really is 2 or 3, so I stick with 2. Happens most every swim. The other is I let my mind wander--usually planning out my run route--then I have no clue where I am!

Fishbowl for me this morning. True to form, lost track of count... Was supposed to be an 1800 in 35mins. Took me 48:39 to do probably 2000 (or more???). Yah, still really slow. And I certainly was feeling all the shoveling I did over the weekend!

A while back one of the guys that walks the track above the pool came down to tell me that I swim like a barge. I've been working with a swim coach, and things are improving. So, this morning this guy tells me that my swim is looking much better, althoguh it looked like I was really slowing down at the end. Uh, yah, I was doing my cool down???
