On this day in 1634 Maryland was founded by English colonists sent by the second Lord Baltimore.

Small crowd for the usual Tuesday trot today - just Ironboy, The Diesel, the M-Dawg and I. Cold and dark - though the moon still hung in the West. Nice to hear more stories of the Stag Run.

Tithers - has Oprah called yet?

45 minutes easy spin on the trainer for me this morning. I was going to tackle Hillacious, but I woke up with a sore throat and a bit of a headache, so I decided to take it easy. Sore throat and headache are gone, but perhaps that's the endorphins talking.

Trainer last night for 37 minutes, 2 minutes up from last week. I'll be at my 40 minute goal over the next two workouts. W/U of 5 min in 53-23 and 5 min in 53-21 avg around 17.5 mph, then a two min interval pyramid down from 21 but did not hit 12 or 13. Then miscellaneous gears to hit 37 min. Avg for the entire 37 min was 19 mph, now if I can only translate that onto the road I will be set. Probable rest day today or short run.

Wow - and I thought I was early this morning. Great early workouts gang.

Alicia, hope you lose the junk!

Chris - spring has sprung - the temps just need to be a little higher for my nose and toes. We're both getting high 50s later this week, along with rain, however.

5-mile run followed by a 2000-meter swim with Kathy. We lengthened the run by a few minutes, because we've gotten so speedy fast on our course! Swim was another story, after a week out of the pool, my body wasn't slicing through the water so much.
500 warm up
4x150 (#1: 50 builds; #2: 50 easy/100 fast; #3: 50 fast/50 easy/50 fast; #4: 150 fast
9x100 alternating p/k/s

That's it for me. My knees are complaining about all the hills they've pulled on the bike. I told them to go talk to Bannon's knees.

Happy workouts all - Go Terps!!

Now that my Jury Duty service is over... it's back to work!

Beth: Way to dial those workouts in with good focus. Nice to read about.

Bannon: So what did your knees have to say back to Beth's?

Me...

5.65 mile run early this morning with LRR and The Diesel. Fun. Tired. A bit stiff in the back. Learned that The Diesel has taken it upon herself to get the Andyman out on the dance floor at my wedding. Can't wait to see that!
Followed immediately by...

1 hour Trainer session:
o WU - 20 min (still reading London)
o 2 x 2' in each Gear (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5)
Pushed a healthy and a bit surprising 305W. Healthy because it's among the most for this workout. Surprising because my legs were tired on the morning's run... tired from the weekend festivities.

Fishbowl for me this morning. 1700 in 45:00. Drills and a bit of speed work. I'm finding that since my coach has started yelling at me, I'm able to go faster on my own! Still slower than a half dead slug on deck, but I'm getting there!

Quick change, then headed home to sit on the trainer for an hour. Intervals. Legs still toast from rapid switch to more bike miles and no running.

I'm just starting to come down with a cold. Took some Musinex. Then, thought I'd try a nasal inhaler for the congestion. Never done one before but figured it wouldn't be that bad. Holy crap!!! That stuff is NASTY! But, it does seem to be helping.

Man, I didn't think I'd be doing any of the more-miles-than-degrees stuff this late in March, but it was 8 F when I stepped out this AM and I ran 10 miles. Burr! I'm ready for spring...shorts, t-shirts, sweat, etc.

I was pretty pleased with my pace: 8:00 min miles and a moderate effort.

Another run with DH! We ran 8 mile including 5 x 600m at a local H.S. track. Short interval today because a tune-up 5K this Sat. It has been lots of fun to run with him. He is crazy - he logged about 34 miles during the last 7 days - highest EVER including a training leading up to his first marathon last Oct - from ZERO base. He has been doing yoga and spinn classes all winter and in a decent shape. I tried to tell him he was running too much, but guess what, he doesn't want to hear it from his wife.

He can hear it from his wife, or he can hear it from his body.
But, either way, he's gonna hear it at some point!
Nice workouts everyone!

Rotten - Have you found a correlation between "speed" on the trainer and speed on the road? Just curious.

Beth - I consulted my knees and they refused to speak to me. God**mn knees. Who needs 'em? Oh wait - I do. And you, too, I think. Better let them rest a few days. Easy spinning only, ease back on the running. Better to do it now than during race season.

Me - Winter is trying to return to the Northwest, but I refuse to cave. As long as there's light, I shall be on my bike. Tonight it's a bike commute home, if I'm lucky the current sunny sky will stick around - but I doubt it. Might hit the shark bowl for a few laps tonight, too, we'll see. Did 2100 solid yards last night, so if I do anything tonight it will just be for the thrill of staring at the big blue line. Can't get enough of that!

Hang in there, Peeps, Tuesday can't last forever.
