On this day in 1845 Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven" was first published, in the New York Evening Mirror.

Nothing for me yet. Gonna try an upper body workout at lunch and maybe swim tomorrow.

LRR--I'm too darned lazy to look up history for the day!

Fishbowl for me this morning. Fogot to write down coach's workout, so just did 60min steady. When I finished, a guy I know from yoga came down to talk with me. He's always on the track above the pool while I swim. He asked if I knew how bad my swim looked. Uh, yah... He says I swim like a barge. Okay...

Since I raced Sunday, coach didn't want me to run today. Today it's 40* with light winds. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be be int he 20's with high winds... Great...

This morning hurt, but damn... it felt oh so good to stretch those muscles.

niemsco: Ut-oh... just hearing about nasty weather punching into your neck of the woods has me worried that that thing will be storming across the country to my neck, as it usually does. And hey, how the heck did you get your username? And by the way, been following along your workouts... keep up the good work!

Me...

5.65 mile not-so-typical run early this morning for the typical Tuesday trot. Typical for normal route. Not-so-typical because we missed the M-Dawg. Rumor has it the owner is injured or something. So the M-Dawg suffers, and so do we. Boo-hoo. Took me a solid two miles before my legs loosened. Was huffing and puffing a bit from tired legs. But it's Tuesday, so I run. Followed immediately by...

50 min easy Trainer session to strecth the legs, and damn, I feel great now!
o WU - 20 min (still reading "A Place Called Freedom" by Ken Follett... almost done)
o 4 x 5' G7 (G5 normal) w/3' rest
Pushed a surprising 285W average. Normal is about 295 for this workout. Pleased since I expected to be much less since my legs are still shot from Sunday's long run.

Good morning all.

1400 meters in the pool. Gradually getting faster, average just under 1 min for 100 meters. When I started swimming about four weeks ago I average just over 1:11 for 100 meters. So improvement is a good thing. If I could only drop another 11 seconds or so in the next four weeks.

Happy training all.

4 miles and unfortunately a bunny had to loose her life on the way to the gym. I feel horrible, yes it was just a bunny but I'm sure it was on it's way to work trying to support the 15 mouths it has to feed. I haven't hit any thing in so long I didn't want it to happen today.

Oh and it's going to be going from 42 to -3 with -30 windchills in the next 12 hours.

oh and I'm old today.

Well I have to triple up today. Set out for my trainer class last night and got stuck in traffic jam on a bridge. At 7 when the class started I was still on the bridge and 20 mins away from the class.

So, 1800 yd swim followed by a 3 mile run this morning and one hour on the trainer tonight hopefully.

LRR and Matt - approach your healing the with same intensity you both approach your training and you'll be back at it in no time.

Thor, Jim, Alicia - thanks for the kind words about my Sunday workouts.

David - You did 1400m and averaged under 1 min/100m? The world record for the 1500m is 14:34 and change. If my math is right, that's about 58 sec per 100. Maybe I'm just confused, but averaging under 1 min/100m for someone who has been swimming 4 weeks seems awful fast to me. Not looking to put anyone down, the number just blew me away at first since I've been working on the swimming thing for a year and would love to get below 1:30 for a stand-alone 100m (yes, I'm a mediocre swimmer). You may just be a hell-of-a-swimmer. If so,

Me - Tempo Tuesday. Still working on raising my LT. 11.8 mi in 1:22.

10 min WU
20 min @ zone 4, 4 min recovery pace
15 min @ zone 4, 3 min recovery pace
10 min @ zone 4, 2 min recovery pace
5 min @ zone 4
CD

Then 1 hr of weights and core exercises.

Nevermore, tri-peeps!

30 minutes on the stationary with 8 minutes of pushing high gear and the rest moderate effort. Got the MPH up to 26-27 can I post this on the speed thread? Then did 2 mile treadmill run, my legs are tired. Tonite either hill workout on treadmill or if motivated swim to prepare for postal effort on Friday.

LRR, hope you're up and about soon. I was thinking of your username this morning. I was struggling through my run, saying to myself, left, right, left, right, left, right.................you get the picture. So I thought of your username, thought of you and thought of your injury. A whole lot of thinking before I went and cast my vote. My vote isn't even going to count. They are not counting the Democratic votes in Florida due to our early voting. Whatever.

We bought a new laptop over our vacation that has an integrated webcam with motion detection in the software. So we set it up yesterday when we left for work to check out our pets. We had about 12 clips during the day, mostly just the dog scooting away from the spot of sun on the floor. She was up and about twice, doubling what we saw the cat do. What a life.

I was up early and out the door for a run this morning. Questionable gut and more questionable legs. Oh well, still knocked out 4 cruisy miles. Will be hitting the trainer for a strength workout whenever I get out of the office. Which means about the time I stop messing around here.

Good catch Mike. Thinking one thing and typing another. That would be 50m not 100m. Duh! I just started swimming. See my head must be water logged.
