2 x 5km time trials. Given the conditions (low water, wind, tide) and the fact that I am exhausted from work, I am quite happy with the times. I think I may be getting faster - woot!

Good workouts and rest days everyone.
Neil, Star Wars is a great idea. I am partial to anything with Patrick Dempsey, but you might not like him as much as I do.

Swam 2500yds
500 easy
7x100 relatively easy
5x100 harder
3x100 balls to the wall
500 easy

Some of it was done with just arms because my knee still sucks and even kicking in the water sometimes hurts.
I get my MRI results today. Really hoping nothing is torn.

Decided I'm going to do my track workout in the afternoon, when the sun is up. 1:15 on the track. 6 x 1000m @ 3:30 with 2 min recovery then 4 x 400m @ 77 sec with 3 min recovery. I'm hoping the kiddies aren't out on the middle school track I use.

Then 1 hr weights and core workout.

They're predicting up to 6" of snow overnight here. WTF!!! I do not want to have to deal with this! Today is the first day of spring! It is not supposed to snow in the spring! AGGHH!

Okay, done whinning. Whatever. I can deal with it.

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Birthday Tithers!

Today is also my birthday, only I was born 19 years before you. Please, nobody do the math.

A rest day for me. I think the sleepless nights with a sick child finally caught up with me. I'm not feeling great, so I slept in. I'm thinking I might get in an afternoon run, but probably not.

Grumpy morning here in New England.

Neil: Damn, your coach has you ramped with some serious Trainer minutes on a weekly basis. You will no doubt be that much stronger for it. I actually have a problem on the Trainer. I have the inability to go easy, so that limits the length of time I can be on it. I've tried to dial back intensity, but I wind up pushing my intervals. I suppose this is where solid HR training would work for me. But I'm not worried because, at this stage in the game, with me still building great strength, I don't need much more than 2 hours anyway. Still, hats off to you. As for what to watch, hmmm... no recorded unwatched rugby matches? Does England have a friendly coming up soon where Becks might get his 100th?

Me...

4+ mile easy puddle jumper. Drizzling rain at the start; by mile 2 it was pouring. Followed by...

40 lap tempo swim.

Happy Birthday, T-Girl!

I'll never forget when I turned the big three-oh. As I came into work that morning and entered the building, the sight was undeniable. Across cube land, I was taken aback by the sight over near where my office was, all the way across cube land to the other side of the building. There, over my little place in the walled complex, hovered a black mass, as if a dark cloud, only this dark cloud, upon closer inspection, was 29 black balloons (one popped, or so I was told).

Hope the kiddies don't do the same to you.

It has just been announced that Beckham has been picked for the squad for the upcoming game against France next Week
He has been playing some pre-season games for the Galaxy and been doing well - I really hope he gets his 100th cap - he really deserves it

It has also been announced today that Team USA is to play a friendly against England in May

Should be good

Neil; Sopranos Series DVDs are good for the trainer I've been discovering this week. You can hit play-all and three episodes per disc means you have nearly 3 hours uninterupted. I started series 1 with a stated goal to do all the series right through while on the trainer! It will g'tee 80 hours training.

Becks; give him his cap and let the circus end. He was never that good (appreciate this needs qualification: he's been a good international footballer, but no better than "good". Certainly not a great player, and not even England's best player of his era), and now he's not even fit (in the match-fit sense of players playing a high standard of football every week). But he's very pretty I'll grant him.
i don't grudge him the 100 caps - I just want what is a team sport to be about the team again; then maybe there'll be some success. Sir Alex knows a thing or two about building a football team, and as soon as he was unhappy about the celebrity outstripping the team, Becks was on his way. Unfortunately it didn't happen for the national team as soon as it should have; and both our WC 06 and our Euro 2004 chances were drowned at birth with a patently unfit Beckham being given his place no-matter-what his form.
I don't dislike Beckham the individual - seems a simple enough soul; but i absolutely detest the trend in the English game that he chiefly represents.

10.45mile run for me tonight.

For all of you watching movies on the trainer - are you just cranking the volume to hear the movie? Headsets? When I do my spinervals I just mute it and listen to my own music while watching the screen. It seems like I have to have the volume on the tv way too high as my trainer drowns out everything around me! Oddly enough, the fluid trainers are supposed to be quieter, but I don't think there's anything quiet about mine.

LookiLoo--I listen to the radio when I am on the trainer. I just crank up the volume. Actually, my family prefers it that way. I tend so sing along, and they say I'm not very good...

Happy Birthday VictorN and Tithers!!!!

Not sure if I'm going to workout today or just take a rest day. Probably rest. Left work an hour early yesterday and drove up to Seattle to visit with Dad for an hour or so. He's doing MUCH better, but the drugs have played havoc with his mind. Confusing conversation to say the least. Got home around 12:30, had a snack and a glass of wine to decompress (I hate those long, dark, rainy drives), in bed around 1:15, up at 6:45, and it's another day of tax season. sigh...

Happy Birthday Victor and Tithers!

AM: 90 minute BT Threshold ride on the computrainer. WU: 30minutes, then 45 minute zone IV ride. First 20 minutes was a struggle, then at 25 it was easier, then at 30 it seemed easy even though I was in a middle zone IV. I bumped up the wattage for the last fifteen minutes, high zone IV. Around 210 watts for the 45 minutes, AHR 150, Cadence around 95 for the effort. Felt great afterwards.

PM: Weights, 30-60 minutes, haven't decided on how much.
