On this day in 1513 Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon sighted Florida.

The M-Dawg and I found The Rookie out front this morning just before The Diesel hummed around the corner. A nice, but dark, run through the park and we found Ironboy challenging the hills on the other side. 5 miles in all - and some good conversation.

LRR, one of these days when I am home, if that ever happens again, I have to join you for a Tuesday or Thursday run. This morning I swam at the Somerville NJ Y. Did a 1400 yard workout of a 400 yard warm-up followed by 2 sets of 4 x 100's with no rest between 100's. Needless to say the first 100 of each set was the best with the rest coming in around the same time just of 2 minutes. 200 yard cool down. Felt good. In the parking lot there was a car with an IronMan finisher bumper sticker. I told myself it had to have been the guy kicking my butt in the pool.

Have a great day.

Fishbowl for me this morning. 2000 steady in 49:38.

I felt kinda bad--the pool was busy this morning (usually it's just me) and the woman in the next lane was just learning how to swim. The first bit, she was doing kick drills by herself. The 'kick, kick, stand' thing. Then, her swim coach showed up. By the time I was getting out, she was getting maybe three strokes in and they were thrilled. And there I was 'showing off'. I always hate it when there's a better swimmer in the lane next to me. Makes me feel like I should be in the kiddie pool or something...

Don't feel that way....
You're there to do your thing, they're there to do their thing.
It's all good.

Besides, who knows that maybe one of those times they're lookin' at ya underwater using you as a sample of what good swimming should look like, so they'll copy it.

Wow: If you have checked out der Kaiser's thread titled "Slightly late to the party", check it out. It's funny! And best yet, it looks like he and his fiancee had an amazingly fun time in Scotland. Thanks man, that was really cool.
http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25071

Master: Come on out any morning. We'd love the company, especially yours.

x: Great job on notching over 20 on an easy hour ride. That's exactly where you want to be!

Me...

Phew... tough morning.

7.5 mile run early this morning. Did a few (3 plus a half) longer hill repeats (about 3-3:30 up) until hooking up with LRR, The Rookie, and The Diesel for some fun miles. That right there is a good mix. The Rookie keeps The Diesel on her toes, and when The Diesel is pumping with energy and jokes, everybody follows suit. A fun run. Too bad my spell with them was so short before I had to head for home.
Followed immediately by...

1:30 Trainer session:
o WU - 20 min
o 5 x 30s G10 (High Gear - HG - 53x11) w/2' recovery spin
o 5 min recovery spin
o 5 x 1 min HG w/2' recovery
o 5 min recovery
o 7 x 2 min G7 (53x14) w/3' recovery
Pushed average of 293W. Pleased because I almost aborted the workout due to tired legs. They stayed tired but started pushing with enough power to get in a solid workout. It hurt.

Good morning!

Julie - what's up with CT being 'the ex'??? It's not because he's spending so much time with the other wimmins around here, is it?

45 minute 5-ish mile run for me this morning - I had hoped to do it last night, but life got in the way. Tonight I will hit the trainer with Julie's ex, yes, Coach Troy

I don't know but I was ready to kick CT out last night. 10 sec hard above AT followed by 50 sec easy doesn't sound like a big deal but string 6 together in a row, rest, then repeat. I was ready to throw the DVD player out the window, that is if I had the energy.

7 miles planned for lunch with some cruise intervals and then a speed session in the pool tonight...Hell Thursday is upon me.

Hey all--Good workouts this morning. Not so much for me. Some kind of crud is busily and mercilessly intent on invading my body. Started feeling a little green around the edges yesterday afternoon. Got slowly but steadily worse. I'll leave out all the gory details. Managed to get a few hours of solid sleep. Woke up, had 7 miles on the docket w/speedwork. Thought "Maybe I'll feel better if I get out there and run." It took me a whopping 30 minutes to even get dressed and make it out of the house in the dark and rainy pre-dawn. I got dizzy just tying my running shoes. Yeah. Made it 3 miles, including a stop by a handy ditch on the shoulder of the road.

Now I'm sitting at work, thinking longingly of home, and probably headed there soon; as I'm getting precious little done, having to leave my desk fairly often. I did have my own date w/ CT tonight, but I'm thinking I'm just going to leave you other ladies to his special brand of pain.

Great to smell salt marsh, stare out to the Isles of Shoals, and feel the wind in a good way. Lots of huffin' and puffin' though.

Now for an inch of slop tonight ... Uggh ... latest check says up to 6" of slop ...
