On Feb. 28, 1993, a gun battle erupted near Waco, Texas, when Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents tried to serve warrants on the Branch Davidians; four agents and six Davidians were killed as a 51-day standoff began.

So far, I'm mostly doing laps. Laps back and forth between my desk and the bathroom. I'm thinkin' of putting on my GPS so I can log these miles! And it's amazing how filling lime green jello can be - not to mention how fast it can go through you!

Gentle flurries in a tranquil setting are falling to the ground here in New England. It reminds me of the type of snow I'd see when I was living in Rochester, New York. With a constant lake effect ruling winter months, every morning it flurried lightly, only up north was dark patterns swirling behind milky clouds, while down south was sunny skies. Usually the line would be directly overhead. It was quite a sight.

LRR: The mean green [poopy] machine. Good luck, fishdog. Be sure to smile.

Neimsco: Awesome pace yesterday. Dude, keep on keeping on, because I know if you hold on and stay focused, we will be seeing some very good things -- and speedy times -- at IMAZ. Do you have a time goal?

Bradley: You too, man. Way to get 'er done.

So I'll go on record to say that it's Bradley, Niemsco, and Alaska Mike who will be very fun to watch in the early season. Looking forward to watching Neil in Germany, of course Bannon if he ever gets healthy again, definitely xflbk to see him continue his amazing season last year into this year, and der Kaiser as he heads into this season with structured workouts on the bike and run and a new swim stroke. Yeah, fun all around. And there are more. These are just the guys I know to be putting in quality time all around who also seem to be on the verge of break-through.

Me...

5 mile tempo run early this morning. Finally. Finally. Finally. I was able to charge up a long hill and, instead of slowing drastically because my lungs just couldn't process enough oxygen, I was able to punch over the top while finding slivers of time to recover here and there. Not fully back yet, as lungs are still raw, but they are becoming much less an inhibitor. Followed immediately by...

50 min Trainer session:
Pushed 295W. I'll take it.

Great day, Tri-peeps!

Unplanned rest day. I really need to get my asthma under control, so I decided it would be best to not hop on the elliptical this morning. I did my new spinervals dvd last night, but then did a lot of coughing and wheezing after. Breathing is a bit better this morning, but I'm not sure how well I will do on my lung function tests at the dr this morning. Usually I can blow out all the little candles on the screen, but I'll be happy to get half of them today!

Thor, I agree, we have some wild folks out there, and this is still Feb.! Some PRs are going to fall big time. Oh yeah, and that includes yours as well. You might think you are flying under the radar, but I see those trainer workouts getting ready.

Speaking of a new swim stroke, had a decent swim this morning. After a nice 600m straight, I did all my drills, KOS with arm up and at side, one arm swimming, catch-up. Then I went ahead and did a couple of harder 50s. Actually swam the second one in abour 49 seconds. Fastest 50 ever, so that was nice. I left shortly thereafter, not wanting to push my luck. I will be on the trainer later today. I had two terrible runs yesterday, so I am looking forward to a good workout.

Good workouts, everyone.
I am in Austin on business BY MYSELF. No co-workers, no husband, no kid (although I miss her A LOT). By myself for two nights in a hotel room. I got here last night and have already worked out twice.

Anyway... 30 min on elliptical past night and 45 min on it this morning.

I am allowed to do a long run (right now, that is about 10 miles) on Saturday. My knee is still pretty sore, but I am allowed to run through the pain. I had another ART treatment yesterday. So far I have had three appointments and it seems A LITTLE better.

Sorry to ramble. This is what not running more than twice a week and being stuck in a hotel with nothing more than an elliptical in the fitness room does to me!!

8.5 mi in 1:05 today, all by my lonesome. It was 7 deg when I started. Dave, Kevin and Cheryl were all down on the treadmills, claiming that they don't run outside in single digits. I was allowed to go up to z3 today, as long as I wasn't forcing it. Nice hilly run, but not my normal Thurs morning hill repeats. I finished up with my eyebrows and eyelashes coated in frost. But the sun came up during the last 20 minutes of the run.

1 hr weightlifting tonight.

Thor - thanks for the kind words.

LRR - Yeah, that's too much information.

Bunker down everybody, spring is on the way!

Trainer ride this evening with Coach Troy. It will be my first time trying a Spinervals DVD.
Snow is beautiful and sparkly here today and we are supposed to get more tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to a good snowshoe trek through my woods this weekend.

Great workouts everyone - I agree with Thor - February has been a good training month for a lot of tri peeps.

LRR - yuck, but good luck!
Julie - nice job with Coach Troy!

I spinned, span, spun, whatever, by myself (no Coach Troy) this morning. 1:45, my longest trainer ride ever. I have a question, though. My purpose was a long easy ride. I was in the big gear up front, and started with 2nd to biggest in the back, then moved it down through 2 gears in the back and then back up to the 2nd biggest for 10 min cool down. I kept my cadence ~90-98 rpms. I was slightly uncomfortable the whole ride, and conversation (well, I tested it by trying to sing) was doable but broken by breathing.

Is that what an easy long ride should feel like, or was I trying to put two workouts togeter and going too hard?

GREAT workout for me this morning! Drove to another neighborhood that had clear roads. Ice is great for skating. NOt running... 2.6m loop. Three loops. 22:04, 21:57, 21:57. Did I nail it or what?!?!? Average pace of 8:30 for main run. WU/CD were on icy roads, which did slow things down a bit. Total 9.42, 1:21:06, 8:37pace
