On March 30, 1981, President Reagan was shot and seriously injured outside a Washington, D.C., hotel by John W. Hinckley Jr. Also wounded were White House news secretary James Brady, a Secret Service agent and a District of Columbia police officer.

14.5mile run in a windy (gusting at 23mph) morning. 12 of which was with Jane and Leslie who continued on for their 20miler before tapering for Boston. The pace was faster than my heavy legs would have liked. But got it done with a great company. Heading to taper wk #2.

Uh oh. I'm getting old. I remember when Reagan got shot. I had walked from school to my grandparents to wait for my piano lesson (neighbor of theirs). Grandma always let me watch Gilligan's Island (mom wouldn't let me!), but the only thing on tv that afternoon was the shooting.

Fishbowl for me first thing this morning. Had to wait for them to open the gym. 3000yds in 1:11. Could someone PLEASE tell me what sort of pace I'm holding and how I compare?

Came home and grabbed son for a bike ride. Very windy again today, so we stuck with the bike path which is fairly well protected. 22.92m, 1:31, 15.1mph.

Awesome weather over here, must have hit 70 out this afternoon. Did a mid-morning one hour run of something like 6.8 miles. After a short break during which I put a new tire on my road bike, we went a did a nice one hour ride. Grabbed an ice cream at the halfway point. Made for a nice Sunday. Last April we did not have a single drop of rain, so I am expecting to wake up to showers in the morning.

20.6 mile run on a grey day. At least there was no snow to deal with! The day was dreary but the company was great! Yoshiko was quite strong for running long the day after her 5K race. Leslie pushed me to pick up the pace during the last few miles. She was very strong on the hills and I had to catch up several times. It was a good run! Taper time now!

AM zone 1 run, 50 minutes. Mostly just visualized upcoming race. I can think about a lot of things while I run, so focused on visualization and kicking butt.

30 minute open water swim. Easy relaxed, worked on form, getting use to wetsuit racing.

20 minutes of yoga later.. maybe.

See it, then do it tri-peeps!

Supposed to be an outdoor ride today, but the nasty cold rain kept me in on the trainer. So, a 2:00 trainer ride followed by a short 15 minute brick. Legs felt pretty dead on the brick, not sure why as last week the felt really good. Oh well...

4BM - Do you have a pace clock available at the pool, or do you have a watch you can wear in the pool? Was the 3000 yds a straight swim? I would say that's a pretty good pace!

9 mile run........was going to do 11 but achilles is starting to act up a bit so figured I'd play it safe. Gorgeous and sunny out and a warm 43 degrees

40-mile ride with Matt and Kathy. Beautiful but chilly to start. But, the hills warmed us up in no time. Came home and took some pics of my old bike to get it ready to sell. Kind of sad - I've ridden it since 02 - and it's been a great bike, so comfy. I hope the new one is as well.

Eric - congrats on the PR! Janie - nice long run. I'm jealous of that long distance!

34.7 mile ride, some hills. I set out to do 40 but the chilly temps and weather caught up with me and I got hail...multiple times. Another big black cloud rising in the west so I decided to cut it short and go home. Hail hurts when you're barreling downhill at 30 mph.

For me, ~30miles in 1:45ish on a hilly course. First outside group ride - my regular "spin class" all decided we could handle mid 30s with mild winds.

then off to splash around in the pool w/ my boys for an hour and soak in the hot tub My belly and chest were bright red... guess it was cold out

After a chillier than normal start, today turned in an outstanding day here in New England with high sun, light winds out of the north -- which helps when you're running long heading south -- and temperatures trying to climb into the 40's.

20 mile run pacing Seabuiscut at the Eastern States 20. Dialed it in to 7:30 and held, and held, and so did she. There was a point when I knew she'd hate me later, but she wanted 7:30's, and that's what she got. But the sweetest thing for me was that she held very strong when the going got a lot more than tough. Finished in 2:33 good for a pace of about 7:33. Quality run with quality friends, especially with the Warden's Husband. Saw a bunch of friends. Don't know a better way to spend a day.

I remember when Reagan was shot. I remember where I was, who I was with, and what I was thinking. It must've been this way times ten for all those who remember when Kennedy was shot.

My lane was slower than the boys' lanes. We dropped some yardage....but, only 150 yards worth from the whole group. I was hoping to get the whole 4000 yds in, but ran out of time. Good thing I was sharing a lane, though...... "what number are we on?" was my question of the day. I soooo can't count.

Eric: Congrats on the PR! 30:30 is a great time. Doesn't it feel good to go sub-10:00/mi? I too am hoping for a PR in my first 5K in May. My PR from Thanksgiving last year is 29:45 and man didn't it feel good to go sub-30:00.

Thor: It's not everyday you run in three states, is it? What a perfect day for it. Someday I'd love to run that.

Me: 5.2mi run + 1.3mi walking + 25min stretching. What a beautiful day. I hear rumor of 60sF on Tuesday around here. The amazing thing about today is there was probably 4-5" of snow on my roof around noon today and by 4pm it was all melted away.

This past week was a distance PR for me in swimming workouts. Most of you swim this in one workout but 3400yd in one week was the most I've ever done.

Tomorrow: more swimming.

Nice workouts everyone, busy week-end.

10k pre-run of the race course for next week-end. I managed to negative split the run so happy about that but I am still off pace. Tonight did 50 mins on the trainer and 1650 yds in the pool. I am ready to call it a day.

4BM-Great swim! Pace looks pretty decent to me.

Ran the 5k route around my house. Nice little out and back that I do every so often, although lately I haven't had a chance to go that short! Zone 1 run so it was 34min. Felt good to just relax. Next build cycle starts tomorrow.

Dougie, you'd LOVE Eastern States. It really is a cool feeling running from Maine, through New Hampshire, and into Massachusetts. It's kind of a rush in a way when you go on your first long ride and look back at the route on a map. You get the same feeling. I had run this race several times back in the early 90's when it was called Border to Border.

And yes, what an absolutely lovely day for it. Tail wind (mostly but not entirely) and all. In fact, when we were shielded from the wind, it got hot. But in the wind it stayed nice, but sometimes a bit chilly.

Great job on the PR distance.
