On Feb. 3, 1917, the United States broke off diplomatic relations with Germany, which had announced a policy of unrestricted submarine warfare.

So far I've made coffee. And I've been trading email with an English-speaking cousin in Australia gathering contact info for cousins in Italy. I think we've got dinner with family in both Rome and Benevento set up now - but none of them speak English. Since the extent of my Italian is something like "Pasta Fazoule" - it's gonna be a challenge.

I actually got a lot of "chores" done yesterday so I'm feeling a bit less stressed today. Slept a little better last night - still have issues finding a comfortable knee position. Maybe some spin later... Maybe not.

Keep it above water tri-peeps!

I got out onto the roads with my bike again. It was just around freezing when I left the house, and probably warmed up a couple of degrees over the course of the ride. I covered 55.5 kms, in 2:16:00. Not much climbing - only about 200m. I love getting outside, even if my hands are still a little frozen. Did some stretching afterwards. May do some yoga later on today, before staying up until all hours of the night to watch the Superbowl. Should be fun!

niemsco: I agree with der Kaiser... great workout yesterday. Keep up the good work.

TASM: Nice to see a run of that caliber, even if it wasn't calibrated

T3: Still no rugby...

Me...

1:20 hour Trainer session:
o WU - 20 min (read latest issue of Triathlon Life, the USAT mag.)
o 6 x 6 min in Gear 7 (Gear 5 normal) w/3' rest (more rest over last two)
Pushed 295W avg. Pretty excited by this because I know I can do more. And I know I can do that for another 10 minutes, partway to my goal for the month.
Followed immediately by...

4 mile brick run. Legs tired but moved with pace. Not fluid, but I pushed it pretty hard. Came in with a 45 sec PR for this course.

John - glad to hear you are feeling better. Getting some stuff crossed off the list is a great help.

Nothing for me today, my legs are a little sore from ice skating last night - but no falls, so I'm not complaining. I'm cleaning up my road bike, changing the back tire and bringing her in the house to meet her new trainer - coming soon!! I'm so excited, I can't wait.

Happy Superbowl everyone!!

I had the shittiest run in a long time! My legs just didn't want to go. I chalked it up to me running a too fast of a brick yesterday (hey-I did what my body wanted to do).

Well-I guess it was good for the mental training. I was well-fueled, so it wasn't that. Ohs wells.

Supposed to do weights later.

Off to Sports Authority to buy hand paddles and flippers. Maybe kick won't take me FOREVER now...

Sorry to 'double post' here, but I'm too dang tired to type out a seperatate report over here...

I had the hardest time waking up this morning. Managed to drag my carcass out of bed by 6:30, and in the fishbowl by 7:15. Three others in the fishbowl, which is unusual. I ended up lapping one guy about every 4 laps. At about 40mins, I got kicked out because of a swim class. Oh, I could have split a lane with the other guy, but decided I'd rather just quit early.

Very slow transition, then out for a ride. Rode from the gym on a route that I used to ride way back in college. Very enjoyable, although I forgot how many rollers there were! 16.5m, 1:06, 14.9mph.

Quick transition at the van, then off for a run. By this point, I was almost out of gas. I was getting hungry! Decent run anyway. 2.3m, 18:52, 8:12pace.

Now, I'm home and showered. I'm ready for a nap!

A little bit of everything today. A short trainer ride, then a short run, then a short swim. About 20 minutes for each sport. Mainly just to sweat it up a little. I have the pleasure of getting on a plane in the morning and spend about 20 hours in transit to Illinois.

Ich freue mich darauf. Not.

Welcome to Illinois when you get here! There is supposed to be showers Monday and Tuesday, which may be a good thing to get rid of the snow... But then snow showers on Wednesday morning

Can't do anything today after yesterday

I was running outside for first time of the year on my new shoes (switched from Nike air to a mizuno wave riderII) and actually had to stop at mile 6 due to pain in my left knee. I have had soreness in the past, but it was always post exercise, I've never had to stop. I'm still limping today.

Did I go too far on new shoes? Maybe they just aren't the right fit? I haven't been running very long and all my running has been on the nike's, so I'm thinking the different strike stressed my legs in a place they haven't been stressed yet and my increased cardio capacity pushed a muscle or tendon over the limit. Time will tell.

I know when shoes are wrong pretty quickly. You shouldn't be hurting like that...

30min body sculpt workout x 2. First round was with light weights. Second round was with heavy weights. I am having trouble typing now . If this was the week 1-2 workouts I can't imagine what 3-4 and 5-6 are going to be like. It feels good on the inside where it counts though.

Hello tribuddies

Me today a nice and easy 10 miler this morning before I then went off and watcg DS9 at a schools rugby tournament - His school has never got passed the first round stage but today they went all the way and won th whole thing - In total they scored 21 tries and only conceded 3 - over the 5 matches . DS9 scored 4 in total himself and also tackled like a demon - Winning this regional tournament put them into th national finals in 4 weekds time

So now that I have whet your appetite for the rugby on to the 6 Nations - In th 1st game yesterday Ireland won 16-11 over an increasingly good Italy side

England V Wales with 20 mins to go England were 19-6 ahead and cruising - they got overconfidant and a little sloppy and were punished - 2 converted tries and 2 penalties later and the score was England 19 Wales 26 - alot of very happy and very drunk welsmen and women last night ( It has been 20 years since Wales beat England at Twickenham

Today France rolled scotland over 6-27 So I would put france as firm favorites now for the championships

Enjoy watching your game tonight with the other Oval ball (Sorry Ella- the 3rd Oval ball)

I should be able to stay up and watch most of it as I am off tomorrow - But it is a very late kick off over here

Patriots to win a really dull defensive game by 1 field goal to zero
