On Jan. 12 , 1876, Jack London , the American author, was born.

Out for Sunday's long run this morning in advance of tonight's late Patriot's game - anticipating bodily damage that would have hampered a run tomorrow. Seabiscuit and Iron Boy started at his place, picked up the Andyman at his place, and then the warden's husband and I near mine. We slipped a bit on the morning black-ice conditions but moved to the gritty margins and enjoyed the relatively mild low 30's temperatures for a scenic climb of Sagamore hill. We dropped the Andyman at 8 and I waved the remaining three goodbye at 8.5 for the 1.5 mile return to my place - 10.0 overall.

I would rather be ashes than dust!
Cross-posted from the other daily thread:

On this day in 1969, Led Zeppelin's self-titled first album was released.

Great morning here in New England to set the stage for the big showdown later tonight with the Pats taking on the Jags at the Big Razor. I, and all of New England, am looking forward to it.

Me...

14 mile run with good company. Started at my house with the Seabuiscut, picked up the Andyman a mile and a quarter in, then met LRR and the Warden's Husband at around 3 for a nice leisurely stroll through a few towns and up and over my favorite hill -- a sure treat and great way to start the day. With a temperature flirting with freezing, there were several patches of very, very slippery road.

Ran with my roommate today for the first time. Did almost an hour, covering about 12km in the Munich Olympic Park. It's a great place to run, and a great place to run loops! I love it. There are always large numbers of runners there, so I don't ever feel alone. Did some yoga afterwards - it felt awesome!

Thor...since you said you couldn't delete it...I went ahead and helped you out...you're ok with that, right?

Ok...so Sherry feel totally UNINSPIRED this morning!

I was supposed to bike 2:45 today. I just can't get my head/heart into it.

So-here's the plan. I feel like a "dirty girl" so I will take a shower.

Me and the hubster will have some lunch.

After I digest a little I will throw on some chaffey lube...running gear and run 1:30. That's my long run this week...8 miles-ish + or - for me. Actually...my route for that time is 8.2...so I'll take a +.

Tomorrow some friends and I will hit Stone Mountain for some biking action. I'll brick.

Gotta text about a possible run lesson tomorrow...getting a form check. Last thing I need to an injury when Sheldon ups my running.

I'm getting ready go go meet my group for a long run... 90 minutes, probably 8ish miles for us. It's cold. I'm tired of this winter BS.

We are doing a 10 mile race next Saturday! Eek!

4:30am - 3 hours on the computrainer riding IM Arizona course, in Zone 1. My butt is sore. I haven't ridden that long since IM WI, long ride endurance is lacking a bit need to build it back up.

45 minutes of weights later at lunchtime.

That would put me around 15 hours for the week for my first week of IM training, feeling great actually, except the butt. Probably look at a Koobi saddle as suggested on another thread.

I'm off to France later today, so rest day tomorrow, be there all next week for business. Sucks actually. I hope I can get in some workouts. Great going everyone!

Swimming for me this morning - 2000m of easy drills and intervals

As for this afternoons game I predict that the Pats will choke under the pressure and the Jaguars will win with a field goal in overtime after a 45-45 tie in normal time

But then what do I know

Enjoy the game all you Pats and Jags fans

It is being shown on Sky Sports later tonight - hopefully I will get a chance to watch

Brick - 2 hours on the trainer mostly easy with spin ups and a few hills to mix it up, followed by 5 easy miles.

I felt so much better this week than last. Finally, I think my running legs are coming back.

3 mile run followed by 30 min swim for me this morning. Maybe some weights later, but not too much. Knees are feeling pretty good today. Looking forward to tomorrow's bike ride, even if only 15 easy miles. Looks like the sun might come out to play tomorrow, too - bonus!

Seems like injuries are on the mend! Matt, glad the knees are better and Kate, FINALLY!! Yeah you!

Today was my longest run post SF...10.5 Yippee! Weird as I usually go long on Sunday, but like LRR anticipate not wanting to run that far tomorrow, we are having a Pat's party at my house today. Anyway, went out and thought OMG I can't do this....why is the first 3 miles so hard? Anyway, ended up feeling great, took it nice and easy........

So, started the run thinking, you won't be ready for the Half Mary on 2/10.........ended the run thinking...oh, I think I'll be ready!

Matt - good news about your knee!
hobey - I hear you. Outdoor Christmas decorations were finally down, thanks to a nice 40F weather. 25F is not too cold for a run, but too cold to work on removing the decoration, you know

3900yd swim with the club at 7am. Didn't have much focus - kind of went blah (quickly). Swimming is being demoted to 'cross training' now, with a marathon training peaking.
75 minutes yoga class with DH

20 miler (#2) tomorrow. Meeting with a friend for the middle 7~8miles, which will be nice.

Enjoy your sunshine!

I'll add this story from this morning's run...

Sagamore hill is a nearby hill we like to run and bike over. It's probably an 80-90' elevation change. On one side (the side we ran UP today), you get all that in maybe 2/10 of a mile. On the other (the side we ran DOWN today), you get that same change spread over maybe 8/10 of a mile. Thor's previously made me do bike climb repeats on the more gradual side. It's a pretty serious grind on the steep side - for biking or running.

This morning, Iron Boy, Seabiscuit, and the Warden's Husband "Shorty" are running a couple hundred yards in front of the Andyman and I when we reach the hill. Andy and I watch as the three separate - IB powers up the hill, Shorty holds pretty steady, and Seabiscuit (showing her part time Florida resident traits) slows a bit. Andy and I chug along at our slower pace.

When IB gets to the top, what does he do? Runs back down our side to meet Andyman and I. So as he approaches us, Andyman tells him he has to go all the way to the bottom!! Coincidentally, there's a car coming so he can't turn around (and cross to our side - we're all running on our respective lefts) at that point anyway so... He runs all the way back to the bottom and climbs the thing a second time!!

I'm tellin' ya... The guy's a fookin' nut!!

LRR - thought I was reading a horse race. Andyboy in the lead, and here comes The Warden on the outside. Now Seabiscut picks darts out of the middle. Andyman leading, and it's, no, here comes Ironboy up the straightaway, he passes Seabiscut, Andyman and Ironboy are neck and neck ... and it's Ironboy by a nose.

Glad to hear the injuries are fading - Matt, Kate, Julie.

Good luck next week on the 10-mile race, Courtney. Lots of long distance runs out there today. I'm hoping to ramp it up over the winter as well.

But, just pilates for me today. Very sore from lifting yesterday - will my butt always hurt the day after lunges? Ouch, hard to sit, hard to walk.

Good luck Patriots fans - we'll be cheering for them tonight.
