On this day in 1983 Ronald Reagan called the Soviet Union the evil Empire.

2hr 20 long cruise ride for me including a climbing of Box Hill. Felt very strong compared to the last time i rode this long, and rode the whole ride in aero position: first time i've tried that and no problems. Think my seat might be able to be a bit higher though, so will have a fiddle with it. got a puncture two minutes from home and walked back.

Dreary morning here in New England stuck between a burst of rain and another on the horizon. Should be a very wet day.

Pete: Great way to mark your day!

Bannon: Dude, I can't tell you how excited I am that you're going to Vegas for the Halfmax. I have been thinking about it since my simple brain finally processed what you were trying to tell me. Damn, that's cool!

Me...

1:30 Trainer session:
o WU - 20 min Gear 5 (G5) - reading London
o 7 x 7 min G7 w/3' rest
Pushed a decent 297W. Perhaps by end of next month that'll be above 300. I really should figure in less taxing a workout for going long, because this sucker hurts. My goal is to get to 2 hours... but I know that will hurt at my current rate.
Followed immediately by...

4 mile brick run. Legs pumped with pace. So I let them work the road. By mile 1 I was in a zone and hammering away all the way to the turn on this out-and-back route. Not long after, now heading home, at about the 2.5 mile mark, I started pushing pace even more, concentrating on staying compact, increasing leg turnover just a touch while extending my stride a bit more, when suddenly before me was an Indian woman looking lost, wanting directions. Damn. Here I was, doing close to 6 min miles, prepared to try to hold on this pace up and down the rolling hills all the way home, and now I had to stop dead in my tracks. I gave her directions and resumed. Was hoping for a course PR. Not today. And I'm not sure if I had it in me or not because the stop took about 2 to 3 minutes.

Rock those workouts, Tri-peeps, and show the Evil empire who's the real Boss.

I rode in the snow!!!

wheeeeeeeeeee

cold cold.

Luckily, it was just flurries...but, for this far south in AL...... it was NEWS.

The Sat. group was small, just 5 of us, so it was a short ride. Then, we went for pancake b-fast that benefitted someone (I'm not sure) at the local Applebees.
So, to get my time in I'm gonna finish up with 30 min on the trainer, then out for a quick 20 min run. That will give it time to warm up a tad before I run, too.

So, now I've run in snow, and biked in snow. I'm NOT going to swim in snow, though, unless it's at an indoor pool.
I'm JUST sayin'

For LRR, we got lucky . Both kids went to a sleepover. So we went to see "Menopause The Musical" (I am a little too young for that hahaha), two jazz bars, a few drinks....but I didn't miss the morning workoutat 7am.
3500m or so with the swim/tri club peeps. Got under-water video shot of my swim - first time in a year or so and had two members who teach masters critique it. Yikes. It was a good reality check... a few things I thought I had been paying attention to correct still need lots of improvements.

Yoga class with DH later.

I slept in and skipped the tri club swim session! I had no excuse because I wasn't out late last night. Oh well! I just can't get motivated to swim. I did go out for an eight mile run. It was a cold and slow run. My left butt muscle is sore. I guess I gotta be carefull. I should have swam or swum!

Nuthin'. I was up and out the door at 7am. However, there was just too much snow on the ground, and it was still coming down pretty hard. I got 1m in, then bagged it. This was supposed to be a 15m run. My 'thon is in 3 weeks...

I did walk to the grocery store. I'm going stir crazy!!!

1800 yard lackluster swim this morning, just couldn't get into it. Possibly related to the bottle of bubbly DW and I consumed last night (great wine, and only $6.99!! gotta love the local wine shop).

Now I'm at work dreaming of Halfmax, dreaming of long hilly rides in the country, dreaming of knees that don't squawk and complain, dreaming dreaming dreaming

I've had the plague for the last two weeks but decided I was in good enough shape to run this morning. It was a typical Michigan winter run with blowing snow and strong winds and I was able to get in a wimpy 3.5 miles. It felt great but definitely took a while to scrape all the ice off my face. Maybe a can of that automotive spray de-icer is in order...

Good job all you who braved snow, rain, etc. Here in VT we have sleet and freezing rain coming down. Fortunately I had a trainer ride planned for this morning. 30 minutes rowing and upper body strength, followed by 90 minutes on the trainer: 20 minutes easy buy high RPM spinning alternating with 10 minutes at LT x 3.

I got my tri bike on the trainer for the first time this year. It felt great, except that it rubs me in different places. Need to get used to that. Thank goodness for body glide.

That's about what the Ironmate paid for her Red Bicyclette a month ago, and she didn't have a lackluster run the next morning.

Don't feel too badly, though, as I didn't get moving this morning until about 1.5 hours after I had originally intended. Too many Samuel Adams White Ales with dinner last night. Sam is really starting to make some solid seasonals that are, for the most part, produced in good quantity.

Stitch, you rode in the snow? Cooool!

Still resting my knees, so I did upper body weights at the gym. Later, celebrating the daylight savings time and the extra hour of light in the evening.

Yup!
It wasn't REAL snow like all the northerners are getting, but it was white, cold, and falling from the sky. The ground was too warm for it to stick, but I have pics to prove it happened. I'll put them up when I get the chance.

Great workouts all.

Thor that's some serious wattage. I could hold that for maybe a minute if I were lucky.

I seem to be doing more damage to myself. I'm definitely not over the food poisoning I suffered Tuesday night, and probably should not have done that FTP test yesterday. My original workout was to do a 5 hour grueling computrainer ride, then a 1 hour run with some zone 4 intervals. I embarked on the ride and only got 3 hours in and I was ready to fall off the bike. I'm just not ready. Plus it was tough.

Started out after WU 30min, 10min spin ups, then 3 x 20 minute in high end of Zone IV 10min easy b/n. After that 3 x 20 I was done, I tried to keep going but the next set was a 2x30 min in zone IV and that killed me. Stomach couldn't handle the nutrition I was taken in.

I managed to just run 15 minutes afterwords, I just wanted to get some time on my feet, then called it quits. Stomach not so good right now. Maybe total rest tomorrow. Good news is I got a quality 3hr ride on the CT in.
