44 BC - Julius Caesar, the "dictator for life" of the Roman Empire, is murdered by his own senators at a meeting in a hall next to Pompey's Theatre. The conspiracy against Caesar encompassed as many as sixty noblemen, including Caesar's own protege, Marcus Brutus.

8-ish mile easy run with the group this morning - a few recovering from last week's trail marathon, so it was definitely a slow, easy, conversational run. Great day for it, low 50's and sunny!

Happy Saturday!

I wish I were in Neil's area... his day sounds much more fun than mine. Speaking of which, busy day doing all sorts of things, most of which is manual labor.

Neil: Congrats on SIL's baby. I'm guessing you're pulling for Ireland in Rugby, no?

Me...

1 hour Trainer session:
o WU - 20 min (reading London - middle chapter has an amazing story of the Tower of London... excited to see it soon!)
o 5 x 5' G6 pushing higher cadence w/5' rest
Rocked a 305W avg for workout. Highest ever. Gives me a new high to shoot for. Though I think the high is more about transitioning my strength build into cadence at lower resistance. So of course I could push more.
Followed immediately by...

2 mile easy brick run. Saving legs for tomorrow's run. Saving them, sort of... at least on the run.

Great day, Tri-peeps, and may the Rugby Gods align in agreement with whatever will make the Black flow... then again, with England and Ireland duking it out, the Guinness, even though Irish in origin, will flow.

An early 12 miles for me on occasionally slippery roads. Five days till Spring! I've been ramping up the mileage pretty steeply and these old knees are starting to complain. I think I'll level off for a while.

classic New England weather this morning. No rain when leaving for the run. Some rain as run started to a steady rain by mid point. Snow started as coffee was being enjoyed after run. Nice 6 person group run. Lost some runners at the 4 mile mark as they are saving the legs for New Bedford Half tomorrow. Pace was set by those of us not running so the racers were having a nice easy run. 2 of us continued to complete the 6 mile loop.

Nice almost spring weather here. We headed out on the bikes for the first outdoor ride of the year. Nice little one hour ride. I rode my MTB because road bike is on the trainer with a trainer tire. Time to get that swapped out.

As a side note, I have opted out of the Paris Marathon in April. Just too much going on around here between life and work. Really wanted to do it, but just going to happen. Oh well. Will have to decide if I want to try to hit a full marathon in May, or just a half. Probably end up just doing the half. BUt who knows.

Tempo strides for me today, typical day-before-a-race workout. 3.8 mi with 4 x 90 sec @ goal race pace. That was supposed to be 6:10, I saw a couple of 5:4x paces when I glanced at my garmin. Oops.

Now off to packet pick-up and then to drive the course, since I've never done this HM before and its supposed to be hilly. I was gonna bike it, but the 35 deg weather just doesn't make it all that appealing.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Lot of nice runninng!
Mike - have a great race tomorrow!

3500yd or so swimming with the club. I am calling this a rest day...I was late for the workout and dead tired. Joined in a slower lane than usual and took it easy.

Then....we had a GREAT time at the Pinewood Derby! DS8 won the 2nd place plus Best Craftmanship award (and guess who built the car?!)

I am skipping my sat. routine - yoga class with DH.

Enjoy your day, all!

I'll see you and Ron tomorrow.. hopefully! Its pretty crowded their and I'm a little dude. I'll where a white under armour hat unless its real cold. Mostly I'll hang out in the gym of the school before I go out and warmup.

Me... I planned on running 40, but just ran 15minutes easy. I'm a bit tight... actually a lot... logged over 18 hours already this week. So got back and did some Yoga stretches for 30 minutes.

Great workouts today everyone.

I got roped into helping someone move (from a 5th floor apartment, with no elevator). We moved the fridge, a small freezer, and washing machine, dryer, and a dish-washer. I'm a bit sore.

That didn't stop me from going for a short bike ride when I got home. A bit shorter than I would have liked, but around 25-30kms. Felt pretty good. Yoga after that for half an hour!

I'm mini-Thor today.

45min trainer session:
Z2 spin. I am getting the feel for my new toy. I averaged 161W for the ride. I figure I can use this as my baseline going forward for what an easy ride is like.

Followed immediately by...

1mi easy brick run on the TM and a 1/2mi cooldown walk. I am saving my legs (and knee) for my planned 7.2mi LSD tomorrow.

My knee felt really good on the bike and I knew it would if I didn't try to push any big gears. I've got to get used to my new toy since I haven't done any biking at all since last October.

60min of weight and/or yoga planned sometime this evening. I was going to do it now but I am out of energy. Between my cold and the rumbly in my tumbly I'll have to postpone until after bedtime for the kiddies.

GO IRELAND!

{{{tithers}}} and other Hawtlanta/N. Georgia/W. SC/NC folks. Be careful with the weather.

I'll do 20min run later.
Took a nap.
I have entirely too much stress ATM so ended up at 4am unwillingly. Spent the morning procrastinating. I should be studying. Back to it.

I ran a HM today - 1:49:56 according to the Garmin. I am taking extended time off running from here on out, so biking and swimming will be my new obsessions.
