Swam about 600 yards Sat morning felt claustrophobic in the pool which I never have before. I think it was due to the early hour. Ran 3.5 Sat afternoon. Ran 6.3 Sun morning with the running club. The Sunday long run is back in business and I am going to try to stick with the half marathon schedule and consider running one in the Spring. Today I am hoping to try out my yak trax from Christmas on a short, snowy run this evening.

5.3 mi in 45 min all by my lonesome this morning. When I started, legs felt dead from last week's solid running, but they picked up as the run went along. Temperature is turning cold here in the Chicago area again, although I really can't complain about 20 degrees at 5:30 am in January.

Finished up with 8 x 20 sec strides and then 15 minutes of stretching and foam roller work.

Tonight - master swim

Summary of last week (13 hrs 43 min)
Run - 51.32 mi
Bike - 39.52 mi
Swim - 5400m

Have a great week everyone!

'nother Nor'easter punches into the Boston area. Most schools are closed. Most people stayed home from work. A foot of snow expected where I am. Joyous winter.

Rest day for me...

3 mile high-stepped easy run through a few inches of snow before the plows made their rounds. Easy.

Then replaced my racing ires on my Tri-bike. Tires were on since Clearwater. Replaced with an older worn set suited much better for the Trainer. Tested it with a few minutes going through the gears. Wow. I miss that bike. Nice and smooth. And sturdy.

Great day, Tri-peeps!

Group is getting larger by the day, we're up to about 20 of us, so minimum of 4 people in each lane. At least I'm getting used to swimming in close proximity to others!

Happy workouts everyone!

Well... Got to my office to find the facility was officially "closed" and employees were being asked to work remotely. So, spent an hour and a half rescheduling things and then hit the gym for 45 minutes on the eliptomacallit before coming back home for lunch with the boys. Now settled in the home office while they're shoveling the driveway (curiously, this is their term for playing in the snow).

Recovery day for me after the yesterday's 20miler (probably ran too fast). 30 minutes spinnning and 20 minutes thorough stretching. Ahhhh, felt good. Hopefully legs come back well for tomorrow's short intervals and a tune-up 10K this Sat.

One hour spin class in the morning.

In the afternoon, I ran to find my max heart rate... I actually never did any HR training. I've had the Garmin 305 since last Christmas, and barely used the HR strap 4-5 times over the year. I did two tests, both came at 190, so I'll take this as MHR. It's a bit higher than the one predicted by formulas... makes me feel younger I also think it could've been 1-2 beats higher, because I feel I didn't push all-out.. it was too cold. Last time I checked the RHR, it was 48, so now I have to find my zones and go from there. Oh, and I did some speed training as well.
