In 1793, during the French Revolution, King Louis the XVI, condemned for treason, was executed on the guillotine. (AP.com)

The start of a recovery week for me. Legs are feeling sore from the past two weeks, but I know that after an easier week they'll be ready to go again.

Signed up this weekend for the Horribly Hilly Hundreds bike event in Southern Wisconsin in June. I'm doing the 200k, DW is doing the 100k. It's a week after the Rockman HIM, so I'm a bit worried about that plus the fact that I'm focused on running until mid-April. I'm told however, that once you get through HHH, the IMMooo bike course is a piece of cake.

Last week was another strong one for me.
- 5300m swimming (2 sessions)
- 72.1 mi biking (3 sessions)
- 43.5 mi running (5 sessions, 2 quality workouts)
- 3 days weightlifting
- 14:30 total workouts

Today, just a master swim tonight.

Don't lose your heads and have a great week, tri-peeps!

If I had a 14 hour week Sheldon would kill me.

We're checking out the new gym today...my old one got sold so my membership is being switched to Lifetime. Good deal for me...I'm paying less than my friends!

Ok. So I'll be doing a 2400 Super Secret Sheldon Swim.

Mr. T will be doing lord knows what. He's being weird about the gym thing. He's never joined one before...so I hope he won't act like a poopy-head.

I'll report back laterz.

I'm a little jealous-this is the start of peak week for the cycle. 9 hours and 30 minutes of triathlon fun It doesn't compare to your 14+ though-yikes!

45 min run/50 min spin let the good times roll.

Weights and swimming for me tonight. Knees keep getting better. They have all this week to get back in my good graces. Nothing but weights and swimming for days on end. Days and days and days. No running in sight. -sniff-

Weekend report: Saturday watched my 3 sons play 5 basketball games; went 3-2. After last game ended around 6pm went for 3.5 mile run. Sunday quick turnaround at 8 am for 7 mile run followed by a leg cramping 500 yd swim. Then relaxed for Patriots win with home-cooked lasagne and apple crisp.

Didn't you say you're ramping up your training? That usually causes insomnia for me. Also, if I do a hard workout too late in the day, I'm doomed.

Lot's of shout-outs, way too little time, so right to it...

CCGirl: Good weekend's worth of punishment... er, I mean workouts for you!

TASM: Nice to see you around. Great job on taking TASM Time!

Sparty: I agree. If you think you need to stay more hydrated during the day, then you more than likely do. I'm always drinking a sort of water or other, so even if I go over night without drinking due to sleep, a good 20 ozs in the morning and I'm good for awhile. But I'm going in probably a lot less dehydrated than you. It's key. At least I feel it is.

Me...

Rest day: 3 mile run. Very chilly. Very easy. Tried a pair of new shoes. Don't like them but will continue to wear them.

Execute those workouts, Tri-Guillotines!

60 min indoor cycling, 60 minutes of yoga. I'm just trying yoga for the first time-- some of it makes me want to giggle....but otherwise, it's like vacation in the middle of the day! I love it.

Just what I needed...one MORE thing to try to fit into my schedule!!! Hopefully I'll also get in some lifting later-
Why? Curious minds want to know.

I picked up a new pair on Saturday. I broke up with Asics. They did interesting things to the 2110 which I don't like. Ended up with a pair of Saucony ProGrid Omnis. First *real* run on them tomorrow. We shall see how that goes but the sprints up & down the block at the LRS felt good.

AM-
Dragged my tired body out of bed for an early swim. But as usual it was worth it, felt so great after!! Then accidentally used foot lotion on my body after showering and had a cool tingly feeling on my skin for a few hours, it was great!

PM-
Off, maybe a stretch session. I am even tighter than usual lately and I can't touch my toes on a good day!

Hobey - I had been wearing the Ascics 2100 series for years, but bought a pair of Saucony's for really cheap at the local running store's yearly garage sale. I liked them. But, I just recently switched back to Ascics (2120) when the Saucony's wore out - and it was like coming back home. So, hopefully you'll enjoy the Saucony's but maybe give Ascics another try in the future.

Spinning class this morning followed by abs - different Pilates moves than I usualy do. I'm off work today, studying the birds at the feeders - we have two, on opposite sides of the house, but we can see them both from the same spot inside. It's funny - they attract different species of birds. I'm watching a bright red male cardinal right now - so bright against the brown winter landscape.

Excellent question.

Short answer: I'll keep them because I need another pair.

Long answer: It's not just *another* pair of awesome running shoes that I need, but rather I need just another pair to add to my arsenal of cycled in and out shoes for the rounds of the week. In other words, I run on 4-5 different pairs of shoes at any given time, most of which are different models/brands in various stages of wear. I like running with all different shoes. I feel it helps with the pings and pangs. And since the pair I just bought is very respected as an all-around trainer shoe, and since I know I can run on just about anything even if my first reaction is they aren't what I was expecting, then I'm good with them. I have my "racing shoes," which aren't racers at all but rather are cushioned and comfortable and make me feel fast, and I purchase those time and again, so everything else just blends in.

The shoes (Asics 2310 ? - the latest along that line) just aren't what I thought they would be in terms of feel. I'll wear them to the ground, or convert them into my daily walking shoes, then move on. I do however like the Asics Cumulus. I used to be a straight adidas guy, but I fear my beloved model will be scorched, so I'm branching out on purpose.

Should I return them for something else? Maybe. But I don't need to. I need a pair of shoes unlike the other in my collection. Because they will only accumulate non-race miles.

45-50 minutes attempting to X-country ski - Forgot that it rained last week, and it was pretty thin and icy, w/bare spots and roots/rocks n' stuff. Falling down (3x) was like on concrete. Getting too old for to do much more of that (and the getting up part is almost worse)!

I hit the pool for a swim workout on my own today. I'm getting better at forcing myself to keep with the times posted in the workouts.

ProfromDover (I think): I got my workout from swimplans.com - it was pretty good. I'll go back to that trough fairly often. Thanks!

Workout:
4x100 w/u

2 time through the following:
1x100 alternating arms
1x100 DPS

2 times through the following:
8x100 on 2'

200 c/d

Afterwards, I hit the gym for about 45 minutes of weights. I'm getting a bit more comfortable at the gym here.

I'll be trying my first swimplans.com workout this evening. Looks good. Hoping these will keep me honest - no more leaving the pool early because I'm too lazy to decide what the next set should be.

Only problem I have with the website as it stands is that you can't go back and edit your original setup info.
