On this day in 1504 Christopher Columbus, stranded in Jamaica during his fourth voyage to the West, used a correctly predicted lunar eclipse to frighten hostile natives into providing food for his crew.

Now carbo-reloaded, I'll be ready to go at lunch today! Got a non-circular sweat session on-tap. Let's go!

I put in 5 miles this morning and progressively faster each mile. The plan was 5 sec faster each mile starting with a 8 m/m pace. Here is what I did: 7:59 - 7:56 - 7:50 - 7:40 - 6:50 Oops I got carried away on the last mile. It was suppose to be an easy day.

Nice Heidi, love the smiley! That's how I feel this morning.

After a great swim on Wednesday, a great brick last night, today I was sniffling and snotty all over the pool. Made a valiant effort for 1100y and then decided that I didn't need to suffer today. Packed it up and went to work.

I'm driving up north tomorrow to relax for a few days

I think I'll start contributing in here, although today is a rest day for me. I am still nursing an injury, so I can't go balls to the wall all the time. Although yesterday I did run 6 miles at around an 8:40 clip. It was terribly easy. But damn this leg...

Fish bowl for me this morning. Drills, steady, kick, cool down. Heck if I know the distance. 60mins.

I was somewhat bumming that I didn't have a run today. I did 9.5m yesterday and am scheduled for about 14m or so tomorrow. I considered sneaking in a short one todya. However, it's snowing. I really have no desire to go slip sliding away. So no run it is.

I've not posted in this thread as all my training this year has been at the gym on the TM. Just struggling to finish two or three miles before I went insane from the boredom. Why do I torture myself so? You see, I am a giant pansy when it comes to the cold.

But not today! I woke up, checked the temp - 57f at 4:45...awww yeah!

So, I headed outside for 4.5 in very nice weather. It was fan-friggin-tastic. Sure, the watch read 33 minutes when I was done, but it seemed like 5.

Plus, being the last Friday of the month, my company brings in breakfast. Plus plus, since it is busy season, every Friday is jeans day. And this is all on top of it being Friday, which is nice.

Yep, this is shaping up to be one fine day, indeed.

Possible unscheduled rest day today. Got up at 3:45 to see yet more fresh and slippery snow. Decided I needed to leave really early since I could not afford to be a weather wimp again, so I left my house at 5:15 instead of running. Took me almost two hours to get to work, so I'm glad I made that decision. Then tonight I have an eye doctor appointment after work for new contacts. I've waited a month for this appointment, and I desperately need new contacts, and likely a new prescription too. I'm excited about this appointment as if they were paying me, as opposed to the other way around. I think I'll at least have the time to get in a short trainer ride tonight, if not a run. There's always tomorrow. Don't let anything eclipse your dreams, tri folk.

Got home early yesterday and got in a frigid 5 mile run before bringing the boys to basketball. Today either rest or possibly a trainer session 30-40 minutes

Bitterly cold morning here in New England, and with a slight breeze early this morning, it felt very, very cold. One thermometer read 1F while another read 5F.

TxDave: On the surface, I have to totally agree with you. You're a pansy-ass when it comes to cold. I take it you live in Texas... it don't get cold there. Except for the time I was there last. I lined up to do the Texxas Twenty in Dallas, Texas when I was down there for a pleasure trip. Morning of the race was 30F. I thought it was perfect. Locals thought it was the tundra. I laughed at seeing full face masks. It's all relative.

Me...

3 mile run early this very cold morning. Followed immediately by...

40 lap swim. Got back to speed intervals. Lungs still shot.
Interesting with my lungs. They are fine (though not fully recovered) while working out, but as soon as I stop, I start coughing like a mad man, and it continues. This makes doing intervals in the pool very difficult, because even that few second stop before beginning the interval kicks my cough attack. Got it in the middle of a few 100's, too. Weird coughing under water.

Take it strong into the weekend, Tri-peeps!

Great day in San Jose, CA. Though the sun really hasn't broken out yet and I'll be in a building all day

Anyways, woke up early and decided I would do my Sunday workouts today and have Sunday as a rest day. I wasn't sure where to run around here and it is pretty dark out, so I found the gym which was pretty nice and did 30min in zone 1 on the TM. They had a little TV on the TM and watching it made me dizzy actually. Then 45 minutes of strength training. Too bad I didn't take my trunks, nice outdoor heated pool!

Unfortunately get back on the redeye, big training day tomorrow, have a good Friday!

Another swim this morning. My body was like.. WTH, you just ran 12 hrs ago... what now???

A question for Dave, Tithers and those of you who run progressively faster miles-
What type of routes do you run these one? Tracks? Loops in your neighborhood? One long route and you keep checking your GPS? And is it flat or hilly?

Looki- My asthma has been kicking up more recently as well. We've had some really nice weather, so I can't help but to think it's going to be a bad spring. I know I'm headed to the dr. for a preemptive strike. Take care of yourself!!!
