Super sucktastic run this morning. Allergies were really bad yesterday so I took meds. Certain they are still in my system screwing things up. Ran with a group from the running store. Others in my group were going short and turned back early. IB I ended up getting lost. Had to stop and wait for a slower pace group to bring me in. Son1 was also out there and he, too, got lost...

Question--I "completed" a 70.3 last weekend. Took this past week as recovery, focus on getting things moving. The legs still don't have any pop. When should I expect that to return? Planning on doing a 'thon on 10/24. I should be okay, right???

Beth - Happy Anniversary! 17yrs!! Enjoy your special day with a bundle of joy!

Thor - I sometimes to that too. Nice run. Any plan for a marathon (trail?) this fall?

4bm - everybody is different. Half iron distance requires a lot to train/race for me. I made a mistake two years go, trying to get to a marathon training right after the race (my first half iron), logging 40miles or something. Ended up exhausing myself so badly and taking extra two weeks to get back to the swing of things. And I am one of those who want to fully prepare for a target race - that is why I do an early half iron distance then give myself at least 10wks to get ready for a fall marathon. 10/24 is still, what 8 weeks away? It all depends on your goal whether "you should be ok" or not, in my opinion. But that is just me.

The longest MTB ride in my life. 3 laps of the usual singletrack, taking each lap over 40min. I was pretty tired heading to the trail but the purpose of this workout was endurance on the trail so all was good. 2nd lap, my chain came apart. I thought it broke. Called DH and received his recommendation. Found out that the quick link came off. So walked back the downhill a few times looking for the missing links. Found one but not the other. 3rd guy who passed by happened to have extra and saved my day! Something happened to derailure while coming down the hill with the chain hanging, so the rear made lots of weird noise after the ordeal. Ended up riding on the small chain all the way to the end. Debated for a few minutes if I should do the 3rd lap or not considering the bike condition, but being stubborn as a mule, I couldn't call it a day so tackled 3rd one. My concentration was gone - fell twice and saw some tress way too close than I wanted a few times too. Chicked two men and got passed by two men. Then FIB 50min trainl run. I loved it. Just ran, no pace target or anything. Legs came alive nicely for the 2nd half.

So 3hrs 10min or so workout all on trail on the book.

Happy anniversary Beth!

Thor - awesome run, dude!

Yo Sake - Congrats on your ride (even with the chain issues). I don't think I've heard "chicked" before...I dig that. :)

4bm - Have you already registered? Can you give it another week and see how you feel? It took me two weeks to come back from my [one and only] 70.3.

Me...14m run from home to Little Otters' sports class (DH met me there with the kiddos). Actually felt pretty good, but it was a fairly flat route. Tried to pick it up at the end, but the last 4 miles were an uphill grade. Good training, right?

FIB complete total meltdown of both Little Otters in their class to the point that we just left. And on Track and Field day of all days!!!!! Turns out one has a fever, so we'll cut her some slack, but the other one has no excuses. LOL!

As far as my marathon, no worries on getting closed out. You can even register day-of. Gotta love these little races! It was just very frustrating this morning to have such a crummy run.

30 minutes on my bike touring some of tomorrow's race route. I ride the roads all the time, I just wanted to check a few of the corners and intersections one last time to see where the best lines will be in the morning.

After yesterday's shufflefest, I went to bed early and took my zyrtec this morning. Headed over to a friend's house and we finally headed out for a ride with friend #2 around 10:45am. Weather was perfectly gorgeous! Had a great ride overall, but my legs felt like total lead over any sort of hill during the first third to half of the ride. Have experienced this before during runs, but not so much during rides. Recovery for the legs after hills was normal, though, so no worries. Rode for about 1:50 and about 31 miles. Sort of a lengthy transition as I made a full wardrobe change, hit the potty and waited for friend #1. She's doing an Oly tomorrow, so we ran together for a bit more than a mile before she switched to mostly walking with some running. Walked with her for a few minutes before finishing my run in 36 min. Was awesome to have some company!

Well, it turned out that this guy who helped me to put the chain back on the bike did it incorrectly. I knew something wasn't right but couldn't figure out. Thought there would be no way that bike would work if the chain wasn't done right... The truth of the matter is, even the chain is done wrongly you can ride it - new discovery. I've got my ride done thanks to him. So no complain here.
