I had an awesome morning. I good friend of mine asked me to run a 5K and I said HECK YES. Came home and asked James if he wanted to join us and he was all in. Yay! We had a great time! We all planned to run our own races, but James got worried at the start. It was not chip timed and it looked like a slow field, so we went right up front. Then an announcer said you should not be up front unless you run 5 minute miles. Those of us up there (other than James) laughed b/c clearly no one was running that fast here. Needless to say, he was afraid he'd get trampled and lose sight of the course so he asked me to run with him. Of course I obliged, but was bummed he was worried - he really likes running but really gets himself psyched out lately. This is good in one sense b/c he only seems to do that with sports he really likes (football and running). I guess the key is, he likes it and keeps coming back, so we'll roll with it and see what happens. I ran .5 with him and he said I should go, so I did. They said it was an out-and-back, so I thought it would be easy to check on him (although he has run 5Ks on his own several times so I was not worried, but looked forward to keeping my eye on him). We hit a HUGE hill, then turned a corner to another HUGE hill. But then the last 1.5 was mainly downhill. My friend won for women and I got 4th in 22:2x. We then looped back to find James and finished strong with him.

All in all, we had a super fun time. We hung around for almost an hour for awards, but checked out the local shops. The race sponsor was a chocolate shop and the hot chocolate at the end was DISGUSTING and cold! What?!?! But the chocolate samplers were yummy!
