5 SUPAH humid miles this morning. gak. No core work. Doc asked me not to for a couple weeks.

Fun tomorrow: wood fire kiln with the group of potters I sell with. They are loading it this afternoon, which I can't help with because of work. But I'll be there all day tomorrow. And then dinner tomorrow night out with my ILs at the Mexican place up the street.

RIL - great pics of the boy. I appreciate that you help keep them active and set a good example yourself.

Nice early morning run, Kath.

I've taken it really easy the last couple days. I've felt kinda creaky ever since the race on Monday. I still feel a little creaky today. I'll either do another easy run, or take the day off completely. We'll see how I feel later...

Greetings, all.

Thanks to the wait time at the dentist, my mouth numbness didn't go away until 8pm, I wasn't about to start running that late. Figured an extra day off wasn't going to be harmful, anyway.

Today is another day off, with weights/core on tap. Tomorrow I have a little 5k event in town.

RE: yesterday's ice cream commentary: I looked for schweaty balls this morning while at the grocery store, but struck out. Of course, being in the south, stores here may find the name to offending to offer for sale, anyway.

Morning all. The mole removal yesterday left me with an ooey gooey sore that I didn't think I could protect, so I skipped spin this morning. Hopefully it will scab over quickly. Besides the PT exercises, some walking, and one sprint to the car in the rain, this week has been a bust!

TGIF

Bard - DH is heading your way tonight, he's going to the game tomorrow. This was news to me ;)

Kath - I've also been told not to do certain kinds of core work to let the back simmer down during PT. He said just a fraction of an inch "off" form can undo a week of therapy. Scary how fragile it can be.

Morning, friends. Got out for a 3.4 mile walk this morning, and while it didn't feel super fantastic, as always, I'm glad I did it. Speaking of back issues, I still feel as if I'm tilting to the right. My grandfather (at 95) was seriously tilted in one direction, and I certainly don't need to start going that route at 36. Next time I go to my massage therapist, I'll ask her what she thinks about going to a chiropractor. She's in a medical practice, so I trust her more than your average therapist. I know that some of you swear by your chiro, but I've always been a bit skeptical.

((((30s)))) I hope yesterday's yuckiness is replaced by much happiness today.

I'm going to get a new full set later this morning. Going to different nail salons throughout the summer means that the acrylic is in really bad shape. My person was really disgusted by them the last time I got a fill. I've watched a couple of movies in the last several months where people make fun of women with fake nails. I get that the really long ones are crazy (how do those women wipe themselves?), but mine are short and tasteful. I bite my nails, and that's almost impossible to do with fake ones.

Ok, gotta get moving.

Good Morning all!

So far it's a better day than yesterday - TGIF!

The break has commenced and now I need to decide if I am Ross or Rachel. I slept in this morning and will run after work today. I had no clean running gear left b/c our dryer broke this past weekend. But it was fixed late yesterday and there is a load in the wash. And the 5am runs will begin again on Monday. I can do this!

We are also starting a kitchen renovation - demo is tomorrow. I'm askeered!

Good thoughts out to all who have had it rough lately. It's not fun.

I tried to run yesterday - my stomach vetoed that. Boo

Ran 3 miles this morning with some peeps and the dog. It was a bit muggier than I thought it was - she was spent at the end.

Morning all. Lack of sleep vetoed my morning run today, hoping got sneak out for 3 at lunch.

Some of you know that my house is up on a hill. Yesterday's rains stopped around noon, but there is so much water in the soil that it is seeping out at the street level, over the curb into the street.

Shannon - sorry about the break up, but at this point my attitude is that if hanging out with someone is work in any way, I don't bother.

Back issues - I find that if my back flares up, doing MORE core work helps. Hmmmmmmm.

For the parents out there, I have a recommendation. Last spring, I got tired of not knowing when things were scheduled and being told "it's on the calendar" (a paper calendar that I can't see at work), I started looking for alternatives. We eventually started using cozi.com We have everyone's schedule on there - all three kids, their extracurriculars, my wife's stuff, mine, etc. There is an iPhone app, I have a Windows sidebar gadget with it, The kids can add their own stuff (mostly an issue with my 14 YO), I can access with my blackberry, etc.

Having said that, we have waaaaaaaaaay too much stuff scheduled.

Ouch - you may need to give it some time. I had a mole removed from my back and it hurt like crazy for about a week (although they did a crazy huge incision to try to cosmetically make it look better than a crater). I hope you heal up quickly!

I ran 7 recovery miles last night and I felt like I was running in slow motion. This morning I got up and did 14.5. My hammies and R hip are a bit tight. I am feeling this majah mileage today folks! Only a week and a half until taper time!

I got up and out the door early for a long run with a different group than my usual group. the reason I did this was to force myself into a slower pace. It was really nice, cooler weather and 10:24 avg pace. I got 16.7 miles in and I don't feel beat up at all. Regular long run on the plan for tomorrow.

Amichel - if you keep it moist/covered and prevent it from scabbing it will heal mucho quicker and leave less of a scar.

3 miles this morning...struggled all week getting out the door, so while I didn't run the 6 I had scheduled, 3 is better than zero.

morning peeps.

I went to pick up A last night at the Institute across the river, and happened to mention to him that one of my new fav bands, Young the Giant, was playing a free show on my University campus, but it was just for students. Never one to turn down a challenge...A said, let's go! So...I flashed my staff ID, and he fumbled with his (not U) ID and we got in.

And it turns out, I am like 2 degrees of separation from the band! I saw a woman I know working the merch table for the opening band (Animal Talk). The drummer in that band was in a band that used to play a lot with the band I occasionally sang back up for. And the manager of Young the Giant went out with a friend of mine who also sang back up. Weird. :) We didn't stick around to meet them though...it was late and I needed to get home. Since it was unexpected, I was still in work clothes, and I hadn't eaten supper (and it was 11pm.)

Glad your day is better, NCRG!
