Morning Ailiarie and all who follow. I am up to RACE this morning! Yay! This is my first race all training season/summer (aside from Tough Mudder, but that was a different animal altogether). All of the other runs I have run with one of the boys rather than seeing what I've got. Should be interesting. I am doing the 10K and the boys are doing the 5K. This will be Jake's first 5K running solo, but he said he is okay with it. I put the boys to bed a little early last night (8:30) and James was super mad and said he didn't want to run. Fine. But then he set his alarm for 6:00 anyway and went right to bed. :)

Wish us luck! It is going to be 70 and muggy, which isn't ideal, but it could be a whole lot worse!

Hey all!

The race was fun. Slow per normal, but good enough to take 1st place woman for the 10K. Okay - full disclosure, this is a tiny race. But it is always awesome to clinch a win. My time was 47:33ish. Yup, a good 3.5 minutes off my PR, but I went out fast and faded during the 3rd mile. The good news was that a guy was right behind me for the last .75 and I WAS NOT going to let him pass me. Ran the last .3 at a 6:40 average pace. :) Nope, he didn't beat me. But he did come up to me after the finish and thank me for making him work. Haha - I told him it was mutual and I was cranking it b/c I could hear him behind me. :)

The boys had decent races too. It was Jake's first solo 5K and he was 29:1x. He said he wanted 28, but I think he did great. James was 27:01. A little slow for him, but he said he stopped several times and just wasn't feeling great. I think he went out way too fast. I dropped back from him at the quarter mile and he was doing a 6:30 pace.

Thanks! 18 miles in the books this morning. It sucked and was a lot harder than it should have been. But its done. Now I need to hurry up and shower so we can get to the Brewers game!
