I signed up for a 4 week course at a local Episcopal church in Dunwoody that according to an article in the newspaper was described as a history of how churches choose communion wines. Wine's along with light hor d'oeuvres would be served at $10 per session.

When I received my confirmation email yesterday it says I'm registered for 5 sessions of wine making at the church. So, I have no idea what I actually registered for.

But it starts at 7:30pm 5 of the next 6 Mondays. Should be interesting.

Do Episcopalians have wine?

I grew up Methodist. No wine. Grape juice only.

I'm Lutheran and we serve wine for communion each Sunday as well as certain special days of the Church such as Ash Wednesday. Some Lutherans argue for beer instead of wine on reformation Sunday (it's a Lutheran joke, doesn't make sense to non-Lutherans - Martin Luther really enjoyed his beer.)

I serve on the Altar Guild for my church which sets up the communion service on a rotating basis for the various services as well as clean up afterwards.

Wasn't aware that Lutheran's did the wine thing. Protestant sects are pretty interesting.

I'm guessing that Baptists (at least some versions of them) are grape juice. Episcopalians, being closer to Catholicism, I can understand wine. I always called it "JV Catholic", or "Catholic Lite".

Hmm,... At our church (UCC) we have a choice of wine or grape juice, Despite the rather spotted history on religious "grape drinks", I always take the juice. Red wine at 10 am ona Sunday , blessed of not is just blech (IMHO!)

Dang I had to take twelve weeks of classes and pass a test to get confirmed. Now, it seems, they'll confirm just about anybody via e-mail.
