God. I'm frivolous.

So, yesterday I was having an internal fashion dilemma:

Should I buy a pair of black leggings to wear under dresses, of which I have none yet?

I was in a somewhat large and fabulous city yesterday and saw lots of gals wearing this getup. Some looked awesome and some looked icky.

I'd hate to be jumping onto some bandwagon towards the end of its ride. Not that I want to jump on a bandwagon. Basically, I aim to have a classic style, focusing on a few, solid and classic pieces (navy blazer, trench coat, pants with clean lines, simple handbags, simple flats and heels, no crazy stuff.)

Example:

(this is not me)

I have some (got em for $4 on clearance at target!!) and wear them under what I really think is a tunic-y type shirt. the "shirt" is long enough to be a dress on me, but shows the goods if I bend over, so I figured leggings were in order. I like this look and its pretty comfy even in the heat and humidity here in atlanta.

Even my husband said they were cute (although, he was trying to make nice when he said it) and my best friend really liked them, so I guess it's an ok look on me!

Some of the teachers at my school wear the leggings with skirts.. but almost always pair it with Danski clogs and no socks.

They are for th emost part petite people... It looks cute on them. I have not attempted it as I am not petite by any means and need to wear socks ( especially when it is cool enough to be able to tolerate leggings. )

I think it is a very cute look on some women.. but the cut of the legging at mid calf is a look that can go very bad quickly.

Thanks for all of your nice answers, everyone. I read and enjoyed them all.

I almost bought leggings last night.

But my budget is tight and I don't really need them.

Someday...
