We were on the back side of your storm last night. About 4:15 it blew in with driving rain; 70mph winds, and lots of small hail. Power outages all over the city and crews coming from in and out of city for repair. Lots of roof and tree damage too. Luckily the temps stayed in low 50's.

rest day for me.

10mi, last one at marathon pace.

today i'm happy that i'm clueless; if i had known my congresswoman would be at my local grocery store 3mi from my house yesterday, i would have taken my 7 y/o daughter to go and meet her.

frustrated by the evil insanity, i chose not to buy a gun at my local store, but instead i emptied my wallet to these guys:

We're are experiencing Erika-esque weather still.

In the low teens, I popped out for 6 miles on pavement since I had such a good snow run yesterday.

I didn't want to spoil the memory by over doing it.

Beth, Joey and I drove up to the Beartree area and ran trail for a few hours.

We had a blast. Burgers and brew follawed at the Whistlepig.

ahhh, look at that beautiful snow. Erika's probably saying "blah! you can have your snow!" lol

thumbs up to Mc. I, too, am very glad you didn't know your congresswoman would be nearby. I heard of this news this morning, while watching CNN. Unfreakinbelievable. and I'd like to know why a certain persons website is not being shut down?

I need to get out there and do a short recovery run today. Legs feeling pretty good after my 12 miles yesterday, even though they felt quite shot last night. It's cold but dry, so guess I have no excuse not to go for a run. And I just finished putting all the Christmas stuff away finally. The tree is lighting up in the bonfire right now. adieu!

Thanks for posting that link, MC. Today was a good day to donate.

In the wee hours of this morning, DS awakened with a fever, a flushed face, and crying. I had a 16-miler planned for early this morning, but I didn't want to leave the house in case he needed me. So, I got the miles done ON THE TREADMILL! 5 episodes of Nip/Tuck, 16.15 miles and 2:30:00 later, I was done! (9:17 min/mile).

Thank GAWWD for Netflix. That is all.

Wow, Robin, and I thought I was sumthin' special for doing 10 on the tready yesterday (9:18 pace, so close!). Hope DS feels better.

Yeah, mc, you definitely were lucky. Protected, I'd like to call it. Random acts of goodness and sanity, the more's the better, for sure.

A bonfire for your tree, Tammy? Pardon my ignorance, but I thought most people just throw their trees out with the garbage and/or recycling. Maybe it's because you live in a more rural area? Hell, we're not even legally allowed to have those stand-alone outdoor wood burning stoves, it's such densely populated suburbia here. Glad your DS got to play pyromaniac... I guess....

6 miles in the park late this morning, on legs that remembered the 10 from the night before. Was slow to get going but averaged virtually the same pace as the previous run (9:20). Good to know that no matter how I approach it, my cruising pace is rather consistent.

Have a great remainder of your weekend, folks.

Yikes, MC..... that's WAY too close for comfort!!! I guess I should be glad that I still find those type of insane events still so hard to believe. I'd hate to get so jaded that I didn't care.

Gorgeous, JJJ! You are way tougher than me!

Here's what we were in yesterday..................

I was tempted to go out and make up for bailing on yesterday's LR. But then I figured that I shouldn't do 3 days in a row anyway, and will get back on track tomorrow.

Such beautiful snow photos, JJJ and Heme!

So sorry mc. I can't format anything right now on Kick due to the ads on here. I hope that changes soon. I will go into the office a little early tomorrow to get the monthly and yearly mileage totals thread corrected from the o-f-f-i-c-e (shhhh). 10 miles today in a driving wind, 1st mile in 9:35 and the next 9 miles at 8:38 pace. My long run pace continues to creep a little faster without any intention on my part - just sorta happening.Go do something nice for someone who can't pay you back - even better if they don't know who dunnit. b

Afternoon everyone.

Looks like winter has finally arrived here. I ran a nice 17.2 mile LR in the snow (and wind) after missing two days of running due to travel.

Have a great eek.

Random acts of goodness are so important---anonymous or named, frequent and often, acts of all sizes. I am so glad you were clueless mcsolar and so heavy hearted about yesterday's events in Arizona.

Beautiful photos JJJ and Heme!

Lots of zipping around the county today in the car and then finally some time this afternoon for a run. 8 windy miles in get ‘er done mode. Early hockey game in the coldest rink in the Valley (down coat and down blanket required). toasty toes and hand warmers all fried up too. The kiddo’s team won, but it was an ugly game as the opposing team’s coach got tossed for cursing out the refs. Zipped over to the running club’s annual meeting and it was fun to see all the local runners and hear the plans for the new year (race series, youth indoor and outdoor track program in its 10th year and we’ll start a youth x-country program this fall!), then a somber occasion as I attended the funeral of a former colleague’s husband who died unexpectedly in his sleep on Wednesday. The presiding Rabbi did a fantastic job blending the sorrow of the day and celebration of a good life.

After all that I busted out for my run and so glad I did. It was windy out there and it looks like a storm will arrive on Wednesday. It’s winter…bring it on!

Go Ben Go and continuous vibes to Econo and family.

The antithetical version of CNY's day for me. Slept in, wandered down to the local dive bar and met up with some friends for greasy breakfast and bloody marys, came back home and took at nap. Woke back up and filled up the 4x4 truck to get prepared for the winter blast we're supposed get on Tuesday, went to the gym where I warmed up for five minutes on the stationary bike, ran one mile on the indoor track, and then did my PT exercises. And now I need to figure out why my iPhone is messed up. Again.

Kick off is a little more than 24 hours away. It's about freakin' time!

Tammy about summed up my feelings there. JJJ, those are beautiful pictures, you too, Heme. I'd walk in that, or ski, but not run.

mc, what happened is just stunning. I'm so shocked and saddened, just have no words for it. And the connection to this type of tragedy to stupid things like Sarah Palin's comment "Don't retreat, reload!" and "they're in our sights" with the crosshairs graphic... and then she says she never meant anything by that. OMG, I just can't stand it. What's to become of us?

Well, Robin, that's quite the treadmill run. Hope DS is feeling better soon.

I went out for a long run, thinking 12-14 miles. Temps around 5 - 10°, depending on where I was. Not a bad run but I'm sure tired of all the ice we have. That freezing rain/ice storm in November is still hanging around with 1/2" to 1" of ice on a lot of the roads and paths. When the snow is cleared off, there's just a light dusting of snow to "grease up" the ice underneath. Even with screw shoes I'm sliding around out there. *sigh* just increases the difficulty factor so much. Anyhow...

13.1 miles today and my legs are tired. This run gives me 47.3 miles for the week, and along with cross training and weights, this was a pretty big week for where I'm at right now. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow.
