We're under a level 3 weather advisory. Which means you can be fined if you're found out on the roads.

Got a good bit of snow, but it's hard to say how much because of all the drifting. Dh already has us, the sidewalks on our side of the street and Donna's drive plowed out. (His work announced they'd be closed today yesterday afternoon.)

How are you fairing?

it's a mess here, but my U hasn't called anything. Not a late start, not a snow day. It's still precipitating here, but apparently it's sleeting. I'm not going in...I just called in and said I'll work from home. I took home tons of work, I have my VPN access, and they haven't even plowed my street. I haven't seen a single car go by this morning!

Unfortunately, I would really like to go snowshoeing but today couldn't be a less appealing day to go outside.

Be careful peeps.

We had hours of stead freezing rain yesterday beginning at 4pm and had 3/4" of ice accumulationby 11pm. Then the temps shifted a few degrees higher and stayed above freezing overnight. My car windows actually were clear this morning, I just had to knock off some ice around the edges and off my gas cap. The roads were also decent once I got out of my apt complex parking lot.

QOD- what was your favorite sledding spot when you were a child? When did you last go sledding? If you didn't grow up in an area that got snow, have you ever been sledding? How old were you when you first gave it a try?

My town had 2 places where anyone could go: hospital hill and cemetery hill. However, a neighborhood friend had a wooded lot behind her house that had a hill so we just went there because we could go anytime. We had 3 different sledding tracks we could take and we named them all. I know I went sledding once in college but don't think I've gone since.

Good Morning, I am working from home today. It has quit snowing however the winds are making it impossible to see. I work for a television station and they keep showing the driveway and road outside the station. There is no way I will make it down that road with my car. One of the reports went off the same road twice this morning. No, thank you, I will work from home today. In other news, I ran 2 miles last night!!!

We got a bit of snow overnight. And later today and overnight we're supposed to get anywhere between 25 and 45 cm. Could be a real mess out there if that actually happens.

Morning all. We had about 5 inches of snow yesterday. Overnight, we had another 2-3 inches, and then sleet since about 12:30 AM. Sleet and freezing rain is supposed to continue until mid afternoon. Will wait for the precip to stop before I start clearing it. Hopefully that will keep the layer of ice on top of the snow, instead of on the driveway and walks.

And we are expecting another storm Saturday, and another next Tues.

I got all the clay I need for the rest of the mugs weighed out and balled up last night, so I'm good to go this morning. Wanna guess how many I can get thrown today?

QOD: we never really went sledding, but we went ice skating often on the Rocky River down in the metroparks when it froze. If it wasn't already cleared off my brothers would shovel a huge section. Mom would make up a giant thermos of hot chocolate, so the 5 of us had something to warm us up when we were ready for a break.

We alternated freezing rain and snow all last night. It didn't warm up enough to melt the ice, so things are a bit of a mess here.

Lots of snow here and everything is closed - including the University of Wisconsin, which very rarely closes. The city even shut down all "non-essential" services. Boys had a friend sleep over last night and are ALL KINDS of fired up this morning.

I have lots of work at home, but cannot connect to work, so I am going to slack off for a while and enjoy.

We had a 2 hour delay here due to the cold I guess. I looked out the window when I got up and didn't see any snow so I went ahead and got RJ up at 6:30, he turned on the living room TV and I saw the delays flashing across the bottom of the screen. oops! He went back to sleep easily enough. I'm the lone person in my family that once I'm up and out of bed I Am Up, there's no going back to sleep for me. So I did yoga and made a scrumptious breakfast for myself - grapefruit, baby spinach omelet and toasted ezekial bread.

Time to swing into action now though.

Greetings, folks.

I'm working at home today as well, but only because it's my normal routine to do so.

I have no fun to report, but no non-fun either, so I guess that balances out. Be safe out there guys!

QOD: my parents house had a small hill in front we would use for sledding, but the big hills were at Murdock Park, Happy Hollow Park (taboggen run) and Slater Hill at Purdue. Murdock Park has a snow machine now, so there's more sledding opportunity that ever. I haven't taken my kids yet. Maybe I should some day. I need the perfect storm of a free calendar and healthy kids...

QOD: I grew up on a barrier island. Basically, a sandbar. No real hills to speak of. The only sledding we did was down the sand dunes if the beach had snow on it.

QOD - there's a crazy awesome hill in front of the Art Museum in STL called Art Hill but that required getting in a car and going there. More often we hit one of two hills, in parks on either side of my parent's home. We could walk there and tire our little legs out going up and down and up and down and up and down. Neither had official names but one had a sewer sorta near the bottom and we made a game of avoiding it Oh and these trips were always followed by copious amts of hot chocolate. YUM! Can't recall my last sledding experience but it was likely in STL a few years back near Christmas. Team Pfeiffer went bobsledding around midnight, good fun!

QOD: Lots of hills around here, so I had plenty of options. Most memorable was the hill in our back yard when I hit a tree with the side of my face. Ouch. Now DH takes our kids to "dead man's hill" - they love it, but I've never been there. Apparently last week a girl broke her arm on it. We should have lots of good sledding around here for a while

Looks like people were stranded in Chicago yesterday for up to 12 hours. Glad I stayed home the last 2 days. http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2011/02/02/colossal-winter-storm-roars/

We probably got a foot or so of snow and massive winds. Here is some of the drifting:

If any of you have seen my FB posts...an email from my boss made it clear that working from home wasn't an option. One mile walk, two train rides, ankle- to calf- high puddles, two women down, and 70 mins later...I'm sitting at my desk.

Hi, folks. I pretty much ensconced myself on the couch and worked on my current stitching project yesterday. Then I took a nap, ate some food and watched Downton Abbey. According to NOAA, we got 17.5 inches of snow, though looking outside, it doesn't look like that much. Still, I haven't tried to shovel yet. I'm going to wait until later this afternoon to do that. In the meantime, I'm doing laundry and will try to finish my project. I finally bought a docking station for my iPod, so I have tunes and podcasts to keep me company while I work. The University is still closed today, and my cello instructor e-mailed that "they" are asking folks not to go out on the road until tomorrow morning unless it's necessary so string ensemble is cancelled tonight. Probably a good thing since my road takes forever to be plowed (and everyone meets at my house).

Stay safe folks.
